Week Seven Gloucestershire County League review

KING’S Stanley edged previously unbeaten Arcadian Nine Elms by 32 runs and, in the process, leapfrogged their rivals to go top of Division Six of the AMS Gloucestershire County League.

Josh Gray (45 not), Lachlan Gibson (35) and skipper Jamie Bish (32) top scored as the visitors reached 175-7 after losing the toss.

And it proved to be enough as Arcadian Nine Elms were dismissed for 143, Jack Clement, Liam Terrel and James Harley capturing two wickets apiece.

Langford 2nds consolidated third place with a six wicket success in a rain-affected clash at Winchcombe, Scott Haley unbeaten on 61.

Division One leaders Thornbury 2nds trumped Cheltenham Civil Service by seven wickets, opener Ed Webb unbeaten on 76.

And closest rivals Aston Ingham were three-run home victors in a rain-hit clash against third-placed Hawkesbury Upton for whom skipper George Bailey’s unbeaten 107 from 135 (13 fours, two sixes) proved to be in vain.

Cheltenham 2nds, the Division Two pacesetters, were 18-run victors away to their Tewkesbury counterparts, Mohammed Rahman contributing a crucial unbeaten 68 and taking 2-15 from six.

And an unbroken stand of 77 between Luke Smith (83) and Hugh Leeke (53) set up Apperley for a 71-run home triumph over Shurdington.

In Division Three, leaders Dumbleton 2nds held off Chipping Sodbury by 12 runs, opener Lewis Rollinson unbeaten on 104 from 131 (13 fours).

And Rohit Makena produced one of the bowling spells of the day to bag 5-16 from 5.2 for Ullenwood Bharat to seal a 34-run triumph at Fairford.

Leaders Bourton Vale 2nds brushed past Frocester 3rds by nine wickets in Division Four, and opener Ali Parker (79) and 3-38 from George James helped Charlton Kings 2nds forge a 24-run triumph away to Churchdown.

Whitminster made it seven from seven at the top of Division Five, Ben French unbeaten on 55 in a four wicket home defeat of closest rivals Cheltenham 3rds.

And at the other end of the table, there was an emphatic first success for Cheltenham Civil Service 2nds who romped past Down Hatherley by nine wickets, opener Adrian Mayes unbeaten on 70.

Cam 2nds, the Division Seven leaders, pulled clear of second placed Tetbury 2nds with a 19-run away victory while Hatherley & Reddings 3rds, third at the start of the day, lost by five wickets at Eastcombe.

And an unbeaten 50 from opener Paul Weaving helped Ruardean Hill to an eight-wicket home success over Oaksey.
