BEDMINSTER 2nds made the most of beating the weather to also make it two from two with a 41-run triumph away to Claverham in the Senior Division of the Martin Berrill Bristol & District League.
Tom Pugsley top scored on 54 in the visitors’ challenge of 187-9 as Sam Waring, James Downes and Matty Gregory all finished with two wickets apiece.
In reply, Adam Hares dismissed both Claverham openers in a testing opening spell of 2-26 before veteran James Carter got to work, running through the line-up to claim 6-22 with only Downes (51) and Dom Hooper (41) offering prolonged resistance.
On a day when heavy rain decimated the league programme, Bitton were dismissed for 95 at home in Division Two to Midsomer Norton 2nds who romped in by seven wickets. And Cleeve’s 30-over total of 188-7 at Hampset proved to be comfortably in range with the home side completing a nine-wicket win with four overs to spare.
A 25-over contest was possible at Carsons Mangotsfield who saw off St George Valley by 49 runs, Jack O’Hara top scoring on 42 and Sam Brayley bagging fine figures of 4-16 from five.
