APPERLEY are heading to the final of the ECB Girls U15 Club T20 and a dream day out at Lord’s next month!
The village side went out of last year’s eight-a-side competition at the semi-final stage, but have gone one further this summer after cruising past Dulwich by seven wickets at Wokingham.
Dulwich, who won the toss, were restricted to 114-5 from their 20 with Lucy Bull taking 2-19 and Millie Downey 1-14, both from five, while Bella Herring also captured 1-7 from two overs.
Apperley’s response with the bat could not have been more emphatic as Megan Ahearne and Lily Rutt needed less than 11 overs to reach their target.
Megan led the charge with an unbeaten 71 from just 38 for a strike rate of 186 (12 fours) while Lily supported superbly with 23 from 28.
Apperley are now preparing for an unforgettable day out at cricket’s iconic headquarters on September 14 (2.45pm) when they will face Ramsbottom, of Lancashire.
The team began their journey to Lord’s with victories over Hatherley & Reddings and Cheltenham before easing past Falkland, of Berkshire.
Group semi-final opponents Odiham & Greywell then conceded, giving Apperley free passage to a clash with Taunton Deane which they won by three wickets.
And that set up the national semi-final against Dulwich when Apperley produced arguably their most complete performance of the season to reach the national final.
