Double success for Gloucestershire Girls U15s

GLOUCESTERSHIRE Girls U15s emerged victorious from two friendly T20 clashes in Plymouth, edging hosts Devon before overcoming Wales.

Openers Jen Rivers (32) and Jemima Smith (25) top scored as Gloucestershire battled their way to a total of 101-3 after losing the toss against Devon who in reply came up just five runs short.

Lucy Thompson was the pick of the attack with a return of 2-10 from four while there were also two wickets for Emily Austen and Bethan Manning captured 1-11 from four tight overs.

Gloucestershire maintained that momentum with a 36-run victory against Wales, Taylor Hodgson hitting 45 at the top of the order in a challenge of 106-2 ahead of Wales being restricted to 70-9. Jen Rivers led the attack with a fine return of 3-10 from four with Emily Austen (2-5) and Sophie Smith-Graham (2-6, both from three) rounding off an excellent day.

Gloucestershire Girls U13s, meanwhile, romped past Devon by 172 runs in a friendly at Wycliffe College.

The home side piled up 240-9 from their 35 overs, Suri Shah top scoring with an unbeaten 60 from 43 (11 fours) while there was also 50 from captain Imogen Davies and 42 from Bella Herring.

Devon had no answers to the accuracy of the home attack which was led by Millie Downey (3-3 from two) with Jiya Sheopuri, Lily Moss and Abigail Bryan taking two wickets each.

Gloucestershire Girls U11 Development Squad saw off Wiltshire by six wickets, Isla Overy taking 3-8 and captain Evie Tadman retiring on 50.

And the U11s showed their all-round strength with a nine-wicket win away to Worcestershire, openers Isla (34) and Xanthe Bolam (31, both retired) taking charge with the bat.
