CAPTAIN Callum Loud crunched 112 off only 49 balls to help point Downend to a two wicket home victory against Cheltenham in the quarter-finals of the Stuart Canvas Gloucestershire Cup.
The opener smoked 15 fours and seven sixes to give his side a turbo-charged start before victory was eventually achieved with more than three overs to spare.
Earlier, George Pritchard top scored with 91 from 49 (nine fours, eight sixes) in the visitors’ challenge of 286, Mark Litson taking 3-30.
Also through are Bristol who trumped Golden Hill by 41 runs. In-form New Zealander Curtis Heaphy dominated Bristol’s challenge of 208-9 with 87, Toheed Hamid taking 4-21 from eight before home skipper Louie Shaw (4-13) and Finn Starkey (4-43) produced testing spells.
Bedminster, meanwhile, overcame Bristol West Indian Phoenix by 39 runs. Muhammad Tayyar Nasir (84) and Jamie Brooks (61) led Bedminster to a useful total of 271-7 before BWIP came up short against Nasir (3-43).
In the remaining tie, Bishopston received a walk-over against Painswick.
PAK Bristolians booked their place in the final of the Stuart Canvas Gloucestershire Trophy courtesy of a one-wicket home win over holders Bristol Pakistanis.
The second semi-final sees Downend 2nds host Gloucester AIW Sports on Sunday (1pm).
BRISTOL are back in ECB Club T20 action on Sunday, flying the flag as WEPL champions in a regional final at Bridgwater.
It’s straight knock out with Bristol facing Exmouth at 10am, followed by Penzance verses Newport at around 1pm with the two winners clashing immediately after.
DUMBLETON host Manchester club Woodhouses on Sunday (1pm) in the semi-finals of the Voneus Village Cup.
The winners will meet Grampound Road or Foxton Granta in the final at Lord’s on September 15.
CLEEVE will stage the Bristol & District’s knock out finals day on Sunday.
First up at 10.30am, it’s the Tony Hitch final between Pak Bristolians and Bristol West Indian Phoenix 2nds, followed by the Bateman Trophy play off between Carsons & Mangotsfield and Stapleton 2nds.
