Golden Hills shining light wins Volunteer of the Month Award

Golden Hill CC’s Christel Rees was delighted, as she became the winner of the August Volunteer of the Month Award.

Since joining the clubs cricket committee in December as the membership and Communications officer, the impact she has had on the clubs has been enormous.

Club Chair John Colley said:

“In that short time, she has: completely re-done our club website, re-written our policies and procedures, written a new social media policy and oversees all social media platforms, new letterheads, new emails for all members of committees and trustees, created a members information pack, started a new monthly newsletter for all members and the local community, simplified organising team selection, helped organise and run an extra safeguarding evening for our coaches, simplified and created templates for all club structures and other marketing materials, and probably many other things that I haven’t mentioned here. We are indebted to her outstanding work.”

A delighted Christel commented:

“I am honoured to receive this award. However, I cannot accept without also recognising the many committee members, coaches, captains, players, parents, and club supporters whose feedback, wisdom and unwavering support enable me to do my role. Thank you! Being involved with Golden Hill Cricket Club is both a pleasure and a privilege. I always feel that my contributions and ideas are valued and appreciated, and I am proud to play an ever-so-tiny part in the continued success of our club. I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for us.”

Workforce Development Officer Gareth Dawson added:

“On the evening that the presentation was made, it became very clear just how much Christel has done since coming to the club and how valued she is. To be able to do what she has done in the time frame she has been here is quite amazing. She is fully deserving of one of these awards.”
