LANGFORD breezed past Oxford Downs by eight wickets on the road to book their place in the next round of the Voneus Village Cup, Jack Brown and Freddie Webb both capturing three wickets.

The home side, who won the toss, were in good shape at 59-1 but folded to 95 all out as Brown (3-7) and Webb (3-33, both from eight) made in roads, well supported by Aaron Court (2-13 from five).

The visitors’ reward is a home tie against Kingston Bagpuize on April 27.

Captain Tom Laver and Rohan Wijeratne shared what is believed to be a Sodbury record opening partnership of 306 after winning the toss.

Laver’s career-best 195 came off just 95 balls and included 31 fours and nine sixes while Wijeratne’s 112 from 87 featured 16 fours and three sixes.

Maesteg, in reply, were pegged back by Jake Reed (3-58 from eight) and Jamie Rendell (3-47 from six) as Sodbury booked a trip back across the bridge to Usk, on April 27.
