THE last wicket pair of Phil Walker and Khalid Boota shared a magnificent unbroken partnership of 52 to seal a memorable win for Gloucestershire Over 50s 3rds in their final group match away to Worcestershire, at Himbleton.
The home side appeared to be favourites for only their second win of the campaign as Gloucestershire were reduced to 120-9, still needing 49 for the spoils.
But up stepped Walker (21) and Boota (20) in style to get their side over the line after Dave Gee had earlier taken 4-35 from eight while there were also two wickets for Pete Bovey.
Gloucestershire Over 60s went down by six wickets away to Berkshire despite Rob Austen and Ed Gordon Lennox both hitting 58, but the 60s 2nds were 72-run home victors against Yorkshire at Cheltenham.
Matt Cannon’s 34 and 30 from skipper Steve Pennington lifted Gloucestershire to a challenge of 210-7 ahead of Andy Kear (4-22 from nine), Paul Silvester (3-28 from seven) and Pennington (2-17) making inroads with the ball.
Gloucestershire Over 60s 3rds suffered a nine-wicket home humbling against Oxfordshire despite Mark Moodie’s unbeaten 68, but the 4ths held their nerve for a 26-run home victory against Buckinghamshire, captain Tom Parsons hitting 61 before Jim Johnston claimed fine figures of 5-26 from six.
