Prarthana’s second successive 50 for Gloucestershire Girls U15s

GLOUCESTERSHIRE Girls U15s made it two from two in their ECB County Championship group with a tremendous win away to Surrey that featured two outstanding performances.

Opener Prarthana Reddy compiled her second successive half century, eventually reaching 53, as the visitors compiled a total of 178 all out, Maddie White contributing 25.

And Sophie Smith-Graham finished with terrific figures of 5-7 from only 3.4 overs, Prarthana (3-25) and Emily Austen (2-31) supporting well, as Surrey’s reply folded to 105.

Gloucestershire Women suffered an eight-run home defeat in a 35-over friendly against Wales at Brislington despite the efforts of Mollie Robbins (3-18), Rebecca Halliday (36) and opener Bea Ellis (35).

There were two setbacks for the Girls U11 Development squad against Dorset, and the U13 Development squad battled hard in two defeats against Warwickshire.

Isla Overy’s burst of 4-9 from four proved to be in vain as Warwickshire completed a low-scoring one-wicket victory in the first clash, and Gloucestershire were then edged by 19 runs in a second head-to-head despite an excellent last wicket stand of 55 between Beatrice Bending (20) and Emily Tibbles (18 not).

Gloucestershire U11s, meanwhile, won one and lost two of their matches at the Teddies T15 Festival at St Edward’s School, Oxford.

Highlights included Rose Mason taking 3-3 in a seven-wicket success over Oxfordshire, and Lottie Compton’s haul of 4-20 in a 38-run reverse against St Edwards.
