Top work by Gloucestershire Girls U15s!

GLOUCESTERSHIRE Girls U15s (pictured) moved to the top of their ECB County One-Day group on the back of a battling 16-run triumph against Devon at Chipping Sodbury.

Emily Murray (27), opener Liv Daniels (26) and Greer Barnes (18) led the home side to a total of 120 off 34 overs, and it proved to be just enough as Lucy Thompson (3-14 from six) led the bowling charge with wickets also going to Greer, Aimee Aikenhead, Emily, Isabel Richards and Bethan Manning.

Gloucestershire Girls U13 development squad warmed up for the Malvern College Festival with two fine T20 wins over Wiltshire which included a first-ever 50 for Olivia Davis.

This friendly double header began with a thrilling one-run triumph for the home side who reached 95-6 after losing the toss, captain Sophie Pickering (32) and fellow opener Darcie Ford (19) top scoring.

Wiltshire then pushed hard for the spoils only to fall just short thanks to a superb effort in the field from Gloucestershire, Millie Downey claiming 2-2 from just two overs.

There were also wickets for Jiya Sheopuri, Olivia Bayless and Lilly Moss while Sophie’s three overs cost only seven runs.

Wiltshire batted first in the second encounter, totalling 93-7 as leg spinner Josie Drury produced a memorable spell of 4-13 from three overs with Josie Clargo capturing 2-3 and narrowly missing a hat-trick from her one over.

Olivia then took charge of Gloucestershire’s reply, finishing unbeaten on 53 from 42 balls (10 fours) as the win was sealed with more than six overs to spare.

The squad are next in action at the Malvern College Festival from August 16-19.

It was a good day too for the U15 Development squad who completed two victories over Warwickshire at Chipping Sodbury.

In game one, Gloucestershire were bowled out for 84, Melissa Watson top scoring on 26, before the visitors were pegged back to 75-4 and a nine-run defeat, Gracie Clark taking 2-8 while Lucy Clarke finished with 1-0 and Bethany Clark had figures of 0-0, all from two overs.

And the home side completed a notable double in the second clash, Warwickshire reaching 90-8 which Gloucestershire chased down for the loss of three wickets with nine balls to spare.

Gloucestershire Women, meanwhile, lost a friendly against Oxfordshire by four wickets after being bowled out for 116, captain Mollie Robbins unbeaten on 33 before Lily Day tried to stem the tide with a terrific spell of 5-44.

Gloucestershire Girls U18s sealed two T20 friendly wins against Oxfordshire at Thornbury.

Katie Dolman (32) and Isobel Patel (27) helped lift the home side to 103-9 in the first tie before Oxford were bowled out for 36 and a 67-run reverse, Isabel Carey (3-10), Lottie Gilderson (2-2) and Rachel Le Poidevin (2-9) the pick of the attack.

In the second clash, Oxford were bowled out for 49 by Rachel (4-15), Betsy Mangan (3-7) and Lottie (2-0 from three) before Sarah Walsh (21 not) completed a comfortable seven-wicket success.
