Van Buuren boost for Glo’shire Seniors’ training

GRAEME van Buuren was a very special guest at Gloucestershire Seniors’ indoor nets.

Gloucestershire’s red ball captain (pictured far right) took time out from his own preparations for the new campaign to attend a pre-season training session at the Seat Unique County Ground.

And he generously passed on plenty of advice to county seniors who are looking ahead to more than 60 fixtures this summer in Over 50, Over 60 and Over 70 competitions.

Seniors chair Razi Ahmed said: “Graeme was absolutely brilliant.

“He spent quality time with individuals and focussed on the basics of batting and bowling as this was our first net here in Bristol.

“Everyone is trying to get back into the rhythm of playing cricket, so it was a valuable session for the seniors.”

New players are welcome to attend nets at two venues in the north and south of the county.

Sessions at Cheltenham Indoor Centre are scheduled for April 3, April 10 and April 17 from 4-5.30pm, and at the Seat Unique County Ground on April 4, April 10, April 18 and April 24 (6-7pm).

Any new players should contact Phil Edge on 07776 057304.

The first two practice matches for the summer take place at Stowell Park on April 16 and April 18.
