Week 11 Gloucestershire County League review

ASTIE Bolton finished with tremendous figures of 7-24 from eight but still finished on the losing side as Haresfield Gladiators succumbed by 60 runs at home to leaders Cam 2nds in Division Seven of the AMS Gloucestershire County League.

Bolton’s efforts helped reduce Cam to 160 all out, opener Denis Booth top scoring on 53. But three wickets apiece for Dane Hall and Steve Rice then helped dismiss Haresfield for 100.

Ryan Bignall, meanwhile, grabbed a hat-trick en route to fine figures of 5-13 from eight for Woodmancote who breezed past Stroud 2nds by nine wickets in Division Four.

Stroud were 34-1 after eight when Bignall was introduced to the attack and made an instant impression with his second, third and fourth deliveries.

And he was also on a hat-trick in his sixth over, taking two in two, as the visitors folded to 78 all out ahead of Barron De Rose compiling an unbeaten 45 to secure the points.

Chris Burrow hammered an unbeaten 118 (seven fours, six sixes) for Charlton Kings 2nds who dispatched their Corse & Staunton counterparts by 68 runs, Karan Sharma bagging 4-18.

In Division One, skipper George Bailey became the first batter in the league to go through 500 runs for the season with an unbeaten 33 as Hawkesbury Upton edged their way to a six-wicket home victory against Chipping Campden.

Leaders Aston Ingham marched on with a 206-run caning of Kingsholm, Anthony James continuing his superb season with 94, and second placed Thornbury 2nds were three-wicket victors at Westbury-on-Severn, Alex Riggs cracking 89.

Jacob Flowers’ burst of 4-15 from nine put Division Two pacesetters Tetbury on the way to an eight-wicket home triumph against Tewkesbury 2nds.

And in Division Three, Scott Tremain produced one of the innings of the day for leaders Dumbleton 2nds, finishing unbeaten on 145.

The opener hit 20 fours and two sixes to help set up a 197-run home success over Dymock.

Ullenwood Bharat boosted their promotion hopes with a 116-run home defeat of rivals Hatherley & Reddings 2nds, Mahesh Shetty hitting 60 and Jitesh Thammisetti claiming 4-10.

Former Bristol Rovers footballer Lee Mansell’s burst of 4-15 from eight paved the way for Whitminster to complete a low scoring three-wicket win at Down Hatherley in Division Five where leaders Kingsholm 2nds were 52-run home winners against Sheepscombe, Dan Jones taking  6-28 from five.

King’s Stanley had their lead at the top of Division Six cut to five points after a two-wicket home setback against closest rivals Langford 2nds, despite a fine return of 4-23 from eight by Gavin Dean.
