NABEEL Ahmad produced a fine all-round performance for Winterbourne who edged Hanham by three runs in the Senior Division of the Martin Berrill Sports Bristol & District League.
The opener began his day with 91 from 76 which dominated his side’s challenge of 207-3 from 30 after losing the toss at home.
And Ahmad followed up with two key strikes in a spell of 2-45 from six, Darren Vickery also capturing 3-48, to help close out the win which keeps Winterbourne second and in with a chance of bouncing straight back to WEPL after last season’s relegation.
Runaway leaders Frenchay’s hopes of a 100 per cent record season came to an end when play had to be abandoned in the 13th over at home to Cleeve.
Third placed Bristol Pakistanis won by six wickets at Claverham, Muhammad Azeem claiming 4-34 from eight and Jawad Khan cracking 79.
And Pak Bristolians consolidated fourth with a three-wicket home success over bottom side Whitchurch, Taimour Warraich top scoring on 60.
Golden Hill 2nds, meanwhile, took advantage of leaders Timsbury being washed out against Clevedon 2nds, to defeat Lodway by eight runs and go top of Division One.
Andy Parkinson played crucial roles with bat and then ball, top scoring on 42 and following up with a fine haul of 6-26 as Lodway came up just short despite the efforts of Caolan Pearce who cracked an unbeaten 53 off 39.
It was a tremendous day for Golden Hill with Hugo Highams compiling a career-best 134 from 122 (17 fours) for the 3rds in a 157-run triumph in Division Six away to their Thornbury counterparts.
And there was also 108 from 90 (15 fours) for fellow 15-year-old Ed Bourdeaux as Golden Hill 4ths saw off Coalpit Heath by 152 runs in Division Seven North.
Bishopston 2nds moved up a place to third in Division Two with a seven-wicket away triumph against their Bristol West Indian Phoenix counterparts, openers Chris Budd (70) and Ben Herridge (56) steering their side to the spoils.
Bitton jumped from ninth to sixth in Division Three with a tremendous 77-run win away to Failand & Portbury.
George Wilshire (115 off 107, 13 fours, two sixes) and Lee Swindlehurst (55) helped their side post a 32-over total of 180 after losing the toss. And Failand were then bowled out for 103.
Stoke Bishop made it 12 from 12 with an eight-wicket home defeat of Bedminster 4ths in a rain-affected Division Seven West encounter, opener Abraham Turner unbeaten on 66.
Liam O’Donoghue thumped 100 exactly off 65 (11 fours, three sixes) for Frenchay 4ths in a 125-run win away to Golden Hill 7ths in Division Nine North.
And Scott Wright (4-13 from eight) paved the way for Oldfield Park to breeze past Abbots Leigh 2nds by nine wickets.
