Week 6 Gloucestershire County League round-up

GLYN Bayley and Ian Dunn both hit centuries as they shared a third wicket stand of 250 for Westbury-on-Severn 2nds who romped past St Philips North by 96 runs in Division Seven of the Greene King IPA Gloucestershire County League.

Bayley was dismissed for 143 (21 fours, two sixes) while opener Dunn was unbeaten on 101 (12 fours) in a total of 282-3 before Saints were pegged back to a reply of 186, ensuring a first win of the summer for Westbury.

Bayley’s innings was the highest to date this season in the league though he was pushed close by Jay Westwood who compiled an unbeaten 140 for Hawkesbury Upton who piled up 307-3 at home to Cinderford St John in Division Two.

Gavin Huxford then bagged 4-45 to restrict Saints to 226-8 and an 81-run reverse.

Abraar Fadra (93) and Ali Khalid (72) powered Gloucester AIW to a total of 246-5 at home to Redmarley who were bowled out for 114, Ahmedi Saleh (4-36 from eight) the pick of the attack.

Will Goldsmith, meanwhile, finished with 5-25 from five for Woodmancote who trumped Great Rissington by 81 runs.

In Division One, Josh Morris’ burst of 5-30 proved to be in vain for Chipping Sodbury who, after being bowled out for 110 at Charlton Kings, suffered a two-wicket reverse.

Opener Santosh Gopinath thumped 122 off 108 (15 fours, two sixes) to lay the foundations for Ullenwood Bharat to defeat Oldlands by 83 runs and go top of Division Three, Raveesh Kumar capturing 5-48 from seven.

And Ed Bressington’s 94 powered Woodpeckers to a nine-wicket home success against Frocester 3rds who were pegged back to a challenge of 169-5.

Opener Dan Gadsden saw Birdlip & Brimpsfield to a last-over four-wicket triumph in Division Four away to Corse & Staunton 2nds with a superb unbeaten 109.

And in Division Five, opener Rhian Burford’s 95 off 88 (14 fours, four sixes) helped ensure a 48-run victory for Witcombe over Charlton Kings 2nds while Luke Smith’s haul of 5-30 from seven put Stone on course for a seven-wicket home success over Gloucester 2nds.

There was one centurion in Division Six, Oliver Lockey compiling an unbeaten 112 (102 balls, 18 fours) for Chedworth who held off Upton St Leonards by nine runs.

And in Division Seven, veteran Nick Marment’s return of 5-22 from seven put Painswick 2nds on course for a nine-wicket home defeat of Bourton Vale 3rds.
