After a rain affected week 4, with no games completed, we take a look at week 5 action.

Bridgwater vs Bath

League leaders Bath made the trip to Bridgwater, the visitors won the toss and elected to bat. In true Bath style, setting a healthy target of 260 in their 40 overs, captain Charlotte Phillips leading from the front with 102* Emily Smith also contributing with 66*. Josie Cherson taking 2 wickets. Bath making their 260 3 wickets down.

Bridgwater set about their chase, but struggled to form partnerships, Tilly Bond with 34 and Hannah Capes 23. Emily Smith having a great day with the ball as well as the bat (7 overs for 5 runs 3 wickets). Bridgwater being bowled out for 136 in 33.5 overs.

Dumbleton vs Frenchay

Frenchay made the trip to Dairy Lane, with Dumbleton seeking their first league win. The hosts winning the toss and putting the visitors in to bat. Emilia Powell looked to be making a great start, but her wicket fell for 36, beyond that Frenchay struggled to gain momentum, Lucy Thompson also contributed with a quick 22. Two great bowling spells from Grace Hopkins (7 overs 21 runs 4 wickets) and Bea Ellis (8 overs 20 runs 3 wickets) meant that Frenchay finished on 151 AO.

Openers Sophie Smith-Graham (45) and Bea Ellis (87*) with 9 fours reaching 114 before loss, Frenchay unable to get the crucial wicket Ellis. Emily Austen the pick of the bowlers (8 overs 43 runs2 wickets). Dumbleton reaching their target in 34.4 overs.

Golden Hill vs Devizes

Golden Hill Sports ground played host to a Women’s WEPL and Women’s GCF premier league fixtures on Sunday in a Her Game Too event.

Devizes made the trip to Golden Hill, with the visitors winning the toss and electing to bat. The first wicket of Victoria Stone falling for 10 runs, Pippa Brown top scoring with the bat (15). With two fantastic bowling spells from Evie Paterson (7.4 overs 20 runs 4 wickets) and Mollie Robbins (4 overs 4 runs 3 wickets) Devizes all out for 82 in 30.4.

Teas taken, Golden Hill set about their chase, making light work of the target and reaching it within 20.2 overs. Bea Willis (30) and Prarthana Reddy (17*). Imogen Cobb taking the wicket and a run out from Alice Robbins.

Royal Wootton Bassett vs Taunton Deane

RWBCC welcomed Taunton Deane to the Gerard Buxton sports ground, the visitors won the toss and chose to field.

Initially struggling to build a partnership, Xara Jetly (53) and Thea Hopkins (26) helped the hosts to 185/7 from their 40 overs, wickets coming from Karla Rose (8 overs 18 runs 2 wickets) and Isabelle Reed (8 overs 32 runs 2 wickets).

Taunton Deane getting off to a great start with opener Karla Rose (60) However, great bowling from Jemima Richardson (9 overs 34 runs 4 wickets) and Rachel Fenney (3.2 overs 7 runs 3 wickets) left Taunton Deane unable to chase and AO for 142 in 30.2 overs.
