Bristol Art Group Get A Cricket Commission

As part of the ongoing celebrations for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which begins in June, we headed to The Hub in Lockleaze to help their art wellbeing group to ‘Catch the Spirit’.

In collaboration with the Gloucestershire County Cricket Club, our Diverse Communities Manager, Jen Muckle, headed to a recent session to provide art supplies. Attendees of the session created cricket-themed artwork that will be included in a larger mural unveiled before the start of the World Cup.

The Bristol County Ground will be hosting six matches across four days during a festival of women’s cricket. All the action of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup starts on June 12th, with Gloucestershire hosting its first match on June 21st as West Indies take on Sri Lanka.

It was sensational seeing every artist’s interpretation of the theme of women’s cricket in Bristol. We are excited to showcase the finished mural before the first match held in the county.

Art for Wellbeing’s pieces will join the work of local school children from Bristol, who flooded to the ground for National Schools’ Cricket Day. An event celebrating 50 days to go until the start of the World Cup.

Art for Wellbeing is a friendly craft group providing cups of tea, running on Thursday mornings at the Hub from 10:30 to 12:30.

There are two tables, one for you to work on your own projects and another where attendees are led through an art activity suitable for those with learning differences.

Art for Wellbeing is £3.50, with a free first session. Support workers come for free
