Net Run Rate Seals GCL Title For Tetbury

Tetbury are the best team in the Gloucestershire League.

They won the Division One title on net run rate over Apperley after every top-flight game was cancelled due to the weather.

Dumbleton 2nds won Division Two, also without having to bowl a ball on Saturday, finishing 16 points clear of Gloucester AIW Sports.

There was one game played in the second division with Quedgeley & Hardwicke rushing to a 10-wicket win over Woodmancote, who were dismissed for 74 in 23.3 overs. Adam Hopkins took 3-25 before the opening batters knocked off the runs in 13.3 overs, with Ben Hopkins unbeaten on 46.

Charlton Kings 2nds secured the Division Three title with Great Rissington second on a day when all five of the division’s fixtures were cancelled.

Frocester 3rds avoided relegation from Division Four, climbing up to eighth, above Corse & Staunton 2nds, who they beat by 31 runs. James Cook made 54 for Frocester, who reached 173-8 in 25 overs despite Cerys King taking 4-39. Nischay Sembi was then the pick of the Frocester attack with 3-25.

Down Hatherley were confirmed as champions of Division Five with Hatherley and Reddings 3rds second, although on the day the weather was the winner as all the fixtures in the division were wiped out.

One game was possible in Division 7A with Quedgeley & Hardwicke 2nds beating Stinchcombe Stragglers by 43 runs. Callum Telford made 61 in Quedgeley & Hardwicke’s 158-5 in 20 overs before Stinchcombe closed with their fifth-wicket pair at the crease.

Witcombe were crowned champions of Division 7B, two points clear of Stanway, although both had to concede second best to the weather on Saturday.

Hatherley and Reddings 4ths were able to play in Division 8B, and they were pleased they did because they clinched the title with a six-wicket win over Down Hatherley 2nds. Down Hatherley were restricted to 92-8 in their 20 overs, with Edward Collingwood taking 3-12 before Hatherley, who finished 17 points clear of Cheltenham 4ths, overhauled their target with seven balls to spare.

Charlton Kings 3rds finished on top of Division 8C after overcoming Cirencester 3rds by 80 runs. Arty Stevens took 3-32 for Cirencester, but Charlton Kings still rattled up 189-6 in 20 overs with openers Ian Mitchell (47) and Tom Hayward (46) leading the way. Charlton Kings finished one point ahead of Chipping Campden 2nds.

Just one game was possible in Division 8D with Charfield beating Eastington by 50 runs after making 175 in 30 overs. The win lifted Charfield above Eastington into third place, one point behind Frampton-on-Severn 2nds and 23 points adrift of champions Stone.

Elsewhere, Hatherley and Reddings 5ths were confirmed as champions of Division 9C ahead of Winchcombe 2nds, while Kempsford finished three points clear of Birdlip & Brimpsfield 2nds in Division 9D.
