Stapleton and Winterbourne have set up what is almost certain to be a Bristol and District League Senior Division title decider when they meet at Stapleton on Saturday.
Leaders Stapleton have a two-point advantage going into the final game, although third-placed Pak Bristolians, five points off the pace, still retain a chance of being crowned champions.
Babar Pervaiz was centre stage as Stapleton enjoyed a 74-run win over Coalpit Heath at the weekend. Pervaiz made 76 from 54 balls in his side’s all-out 172 after arriving at the crease with the score 31-4. He then took 3-23 as Coalpit Heath were bundled out in 26.2 overs. George McEndoo picked up 4-5 in 3.2 overs.
Winterbourne were 93-run winners over Golden Hill 2nds after making 190. Mike Green (64) and Sami Hamid (51) were their main run-getters, while Ash Bonynge-Pearce took 4-23 for Golden Hill and Haseeb Noori 3-49. Golden Hill were then dismissed in 25.3 overs with George Ford taking 3-4 and C Kislingbury 3-36.
Pak Bristolians, who travel to bottom-of-the-table Portishead on Saturday, secured a 41-run win over Midsomer Norton 2nds. A Tabraiz (54) and Subhan Razaq (53) were the main contributors to their 180 all-out score.
Owen Onslow took 5-14 for Bradley Stoke & Almondsbury as Whitchurch were dismissed for 140, a total they went past in 18.1 overs for the loss of two wickets, with Nikash Choughule unbeaten on 55.
Dan Jones was another bowler in form, snapping up 5-11 in Bristol 2nds’ four-wicket win over Portishead, who were bowled out for 152. Bristol slumped to 57-6 in reply but were steered to victory by Harry Bird, who was undefeated on 65.
Opener Suyash Sachan thumped 126 from 100 balls as Bristol 3rds beat Shirehampton by two wickets in the First Division. Shirehampton made 212 with Scott Johnson (70) and Richard Woods (53) their main runscorers. Harry Tiernan took 4-18 for Bristol while Lewis Palmer was the most successful of Shirehampton’s bowlers with 3-44.
Pakistani Express are closing in on the Second Division title after overhauling Hambrook’s 204-5 for the loss of six wickets. Qasir Abass was their star batter with an unbeaten 83. Irfan Omar had earlier compiled an unbeaten 95 for Hambrook, for whom Muhammad Ahmed picked up 3-28.
Bishopston 2nds, six-wicket winners over Knowle after bowling them out for 71, are in second place, 15 points off the pace. Gerald Mubiru (3-12) and Edward Marshall (3-13) were the pick of their bowling attack.
Opener Madhav Mehta made 102 of Twyford House 2nds’ 185-9 against Old Down, who were then dismissed for 151. Matt Anthony took 4-48 while earlier James Thomas claimed 3-29 for Old Down.
Sachintha Madushan made 98 from 81 balls as Bristol Sri Lankans defeated Old Bristolians Westbury by 87 runs in the Third Division. He received good support from Benura Umanga (60) in their 236-7 before Old Bristolians were dismissed in 35 overs.
Bristol Aces rushed to a 185-run win over Chew Valley in the Fourth Division after making 294-6. Prasok Ramachandran took 5-15 as Chew Valley were bowled out in 23 overs. Earlier, Sineesh Syril and Reon Jerome had made 92 and 54 respectively for Bristol Aces.
Golden Hill 3rds, who were crowned champions seven days earlier, eased to a 107-run win over St Mary Redcliffe after making 289-7. Opener Will Webster thumped 109 from 89 balls, and Henry Pelly made 59 while Udeepa Munasinghe (3-34) and Ian Jones (3-46) were the pick of the St Mary Redcliffe bowlers. Munasinghe then made 85 and Vishnu Manikkam 58 for St Mary Redcliffe, while Luke Colling took 3-18, Matt Belbin 3-20 and Adam Colling 3-36 for Golden Hill.
Jamie Mitchell grabbed 6-30 for Brislington 2nds but couldn’t prevent his side from going down to a 27-run defeat against Blagdon, who made 154.
Undefeated Division Five champions Bristol United Banks claimed their 15th win of the campaign when beating University of Bristol Staff by 40 runs. Skipper Bilal Raja made a run-a-ball 117 in their 235-8 while Tom Gerrard made 53 for University of Bristol Staff.
An unbeaten 98 made off 66 balls by William Monro steered Stoke Bishop to a seven-wicket success over Congresbury, who made 217-7.
Second-placed Golden Hill 4ths closed the gap on Sixth Division leaders Bristol New Eleven to eight points after beating them by five wickets. Bristol New Eleven were dismissed for 201, with opener Vineeth Raghavan top-scoring with 67. Wilf Newton then made 53 for Golden Hill, who secured victory in the 33rd over. Len Noel picked up 3-29 for Bristol New Eleven.
Aravind Sundar took 5-22 and then made an unbeaten 54 as Bristol Eagles earned a seven-wicket win over Dyrham & Hinton. Martin Millard made 70 of Dyrham & Hinton’s 140.
Noveed Mahmood grabbed 6-17 in Timsbury 2nds’ all-out 91, a total Stapleton 2nds went past in 9.3 overs without losing a wicket. Aurangzeb Mohammed made 51 from 36 balls.
Tyler Walton top-scored with 67 as Taveners beat Whitchurch, who made 206-9, by one wicket with 14 balls remaining in Seventh Division East.
Bristol New Eleven 2nds clinched the Eighth Division East title with an eight-wicket win over Carsons & Mangotsfield 3rds. Chacko Varghese took 4-19, and Jacob Joy claimed 3-25 as Carsons & Mangotsfield were bowled out for 111, a total Bristol New Eleven overhauled in 18.2 overs.
Bristol 4ths are champions of Eighth Division West after their nine-wicket win over Bristol Malayalee. Kofi Cornish took 3-35 as Bristol Malayalee were dismissed for 160 before Adam Lee (73 not out) and Om Patel (52) helped Bristol to victory. Earlier, Philip Palakkattu made 53 for Bristol Malayalee.
Charlton Super Kings are Ninth Division North champions following their 105-run win over Frampton Cotterell 3rds. Ramanathan Subramanian took 7-30 as Frampton Cotterell were dismissed for 74. Earlier, Alex Rasevics claimed 4-30 for Frampton Cotterell.
