New-ball bowler Mason Lingard took 5-9 in nine overs as Winterbourne moved to the top of the Senior Division of the Bristol League.
Winterbourne, who lost the toss, bowled out Portishead for 76 runs in fewer than 30 overs and then knocked off the runs in 14.1 overs for the loss of one wicket. Winterborne have an 11-point advantage over second-placed Golden Hill 2nds, who beat previous leaders Stapleton by 54 runs.
Golden Hill made 246-5 with Ethan Moss top-scoring with an unbeaten 81 from 64 balls. Jack Spicer then took centre stage, picking up 6-47 as Stapleton were dismissed in 37.4 overs. Earlier, George McEndoo took 3-33 for Stapleton, who are now one point and one place below Golden Hill.
Danny Slade made 82 at almost a run-a-ball in Coalpit Heath’s 225-6, but it wasn’t enough as Bristol 2nds picked up a two-wicket victory with nine balls remaining. Jonty Hall made an unbeaten 55 to see them over the line.
Bristol’s 3rds also enjoyed a narrow win, beating Hanham by 11 runs in the First Division. Suyash Sachan was their hero with 7-34 as Hanham collapsed from 82-1 to 143 all out. Ben Warren had earlier hit an unbeaten 51 for Bristol after arriving at the wicket with his side 56-6. Callum Dry and Robert Knight both returned figures of 3-25 for Hanham.
Timsbury earned only their second win of the campaign when they overcame Bath 3rds by 46 runs. Opener Mark Sage made 103 from 97 balls in Timsbury’s 309-4, and there were important contributions from Kevin Sibley (72) and Freddie Hosford (55). Gary Pearcy then took 4-38 as Bath were dismissed at the end of the 40th over.
An unbeaten 64 by Sohail Ahmad helped steer Second Division leaders Pakistani Express to a six-wicket win over Bedminster. Bedminster were restricted to 182-9, and Pakistani Express went past their target in the 27th over.
Twyford House won by three wickets with 10 balls to spare in a low-scoring game against Bristol West Indian Phoenix. Bristol West Indian Phoenix were bowled out for 120 after winning the toss, with Nathan Browne collecting 3-13 and Jack Richards claiming 3-18. Richards then made an unbeaten 42, sharing in an eighth-wicket partnership of 74 with Thomas Field, who also ended undefeated on 42. Rashard Robinson took 3-14 for Bristol West Indian Phoenix.
Old Bristolians Westbury 2nds claimed their first Third Division win of the season when they defeated Winterbourne 2nds by four wickets.
Winterbourne were dismissed for 184 with Thomas Harvey taking 3-26 before Old Bristolians Westbury got home with nine balls to spare thanks in large part to an unbeaten 51 by James Diamond. Subesa Elayaraja took 3-22 for Winterbourne.
An unbroken eighth-wicket partnership of 41 between skipper Sam Brayley (25) and Jack Woodland (17) secured a three-wicket win for Carsons & Mangotsfield over Frampton Cotterell, who posted 148 with Woodland picking up 3-29.
Fourth Division leaders Golden Hill 3rds were pushed all the way by Brislington 2nds before earning a two-wicket win. They overhauled Brislington’s 148 all out despite David Blake taking 5-23. Ben Wright had earlier picked up 3-25 for Golden Hill.
Prasok Ramachandran made 48 from 34 balls and then followed up by taking 3-11 in eight overs as Bristol Aces beat Chilcompton Sports by 33 runs. Sineesh Syril top-scored for Bristol Aces with 60 in their all-out 189.
William Monro crashed 10 fours and eight sixes in his 72-ball unbeaten 107 as Stoke Bishop swept to an eight-wicket win over Bradley Stoke & Almondsbury 2nds in the Fifth Division. George Bitton made an unbeaten 54 with the pair putting on 174 in 22.1 overs. Earlier, Nixon Sam top-scored with 51 for Bradley Stoke & Almondsbury, while Louis Berrow snapped up 3-31 and Gregory Crichton 3-33 for Stoke Bishop.
Pak Bristolians 2nds enjoyed a 69-run win over Hanham 2nds after making 222-7. Skipper Mohsin Sajid was their top run-getter with a run-a-ball 76 while Robert Paget took 3-47 for Hanham.
Milo Edwards claimed 3-38 and then made 53 as Stapleton 2nds beat Golden Hill 4ths by six wickets in the Sixth Division. Golden Hill were dismissed for 139 in the 36th over, and Stapleton clinched victory with more than 14 overs to spare.
George Woodward took three wickets in the 40th over to secure a thrilling four-run win for Bishopston 4ths over Old Cathedralians in Seventh Division West. Chasing Bishopston’s 196-9, Old Cathedralians were 190-7 when Woodward, who finished with 3-32, began the final over. Woodward took wickets with his third, fifth and sixth deliveries after earlier making 63. Hemang Sharma took 3-50 for Old Cathedralians.
Jacob Owen bowled a maiden over to secure a three-run win for Hanham 3rds over Patchway 2nds, who lost five wickets, in Ninth Division North. Derry West was run out for 84 in the penultimate over as Patchway fell just short of Hanham’s 185-9. Neil Paget made 64 for Hanham while Mike Lilley picked up 3-17 for Patchway.
And in another exciting finish, third-placed Tamil Nadu Bristol 2nds beat second-placed Bradley Stoke & Almondsbury 5ths by one wicket with nine balls remaining. Balaramakrishnan Gunasekaran took 3-13 and Samarth Nahar 3-35 as Bradley Stoke & Almondsbury, who started the day on top of the table, were restricted to 186-8. Owen Caherty returned figures of 3-38 for Bradley Stoke & Almondsbury.
