Downend’s inter-club match to raise money for Ukrainian appeal

Downend are staging an inter-club friendly on Saturday to raise money to assist Ukrainian civilians affected by the Russian invasion.

Players will wear kits of yellow and blue – the colours of the Ukrainian flag – for the 45-overs per side match which starts at 11am.

New club captain Callum Loud and Joe Tolman will lead the two sides in the fund-raising effort for the Red Cross.

Callum said:

“We have our fingers crossed for good weather and a good crowd as we’re also planning to have a barbecue and an open bar.  We’ll also be making a collection with all money being handed direct to the Red Cross.”

Downend launch their bid to bounce straight back from relegation with a home WEPL Premier Two Bristol & Somerset clash with cross-city rivals Bishopston on May 7 (12.30pm).
