DUMBLETON are heading back to Lord’s for the second time in two years after comfortably defeating Woodhouses, of Manchester, at Dairy Lane by seven wickets in the semi-finals of the Voneus Village Cup.
The visitors, who won the toss, were restricted to a below par total of 156-9 with captain Ross Martin (3-13) and Ollie Horne (3-19, both from eight) leading the attack.
Aaron Tomson kept the heat on with a spell of 1-29, also from eight, while Adam Stuart captured 1-14 from four and Dan Hammond’s eight overs cost only 32.
Martin, who also opened the batting, followed up with a run-a-ball 42 and although 2022 champions Dumbleton lost an early wicket, Adam Stuart went on to compile an unbeaten 51 and shared an unbroken partnership of 86 with Charlie Garratt (37).
The win was wrapped up with more than seven overs to spare as Dumbleton now prepare for a dream return to Lord’s where they will face Foxton Granta, of Cambridgeshire, on September 15.
Two years ago, they saw off Calmore Sports by 86 runs to lift the coveted trophy for the first time in their history.
