Ewan Gegg and Lewis Rollinson both hit centuries as Dumbleton took a giant step towards winning Premier One of the West of England Premier League.
They shared a third-wicket stand of 201 in Dumbleton’s 305-4 against Bath, who were then shot out for 119 in 35.3 overs. Gegg was the aggressor, smashing 120 from 99 balls with 12 fours and six sixes, while opener Rollinson made 108 before falling to the last ball of the innings. Finn Brabham then took over for Dumbleton, picking up 6-23 while Ross Martin claimed 3-41.
The win leaves them nine points clear of Midsomer Norton, who were 74-run winners against Frocester despite Max Dunne’s 121, with just one game to play.
Bridgwater are 13 points behind the leaders after their one-wicket defeat to Potterne, who overhauled Bridgwater’s 405-8 with two balls to spare.
Bridgwater host Midsomer Norton on Saturday while Dumbleton entertain bottom-of-the-table Thornbury, who will go into the game on the back of a two-wicket win over Burbage & Royal Easton.
Opener Logan Bowden thumped a 98-ball 137 – 13 fours and nine sixes – as Thornbury chased down Burbage & Royal Easton’s all-out 331 with an over to spare. Cani Gunaratnam made an unbeaten 70 from 61 balls after earlier taking 3-58, while Chris Gibson claimed 3-59.
Jake Carstens smashed 101 and then took 3-45 as Bristol beat Bedminster by 23 runs. Opener Nic Halstead Cleak made 58 and skipper Louie Shaw 54 in Bristol’s 276-9 while James Matravers picked up 3-29 for Bedminster. Bedminster then closed on 253-8 with Edward Webb making 92 and Jack Henderson 63. Jordan Fullager took 4-66 for Bristol.
Downend opener Masoor Khan was the glue in his side’s batting order as they enjoyed a 48-run win over Clevedon in Premier 2 Bristol/Somerset. Khan was ninth out in the final over, run out for 108, as Downend reached 235, before Abdul Sami picked up 3-42 as Clevedon were dismissed in 41.2 overs.
Alex Wilson was the star with ball and bat as Twyford House secured a three-wicket win over Weston-super-Mare. Wilson took 5-29 as Weston were skittled for 98 in 25 overs – his new-ball partner Chris Bolton claimed 3-22 – and they then joined forces with the bat in an eighth-wicket partnership of 28, with Wilson finishing on 24 and Bolton on 12.
Painswick’s Jonathan Conolly, batting at eight, crunched 10 fours and eight sixes in an unbeaten 109 from 87 balls before opening the bowling and taking 3-19 from 10 overs, but still couldn’t prevent Premier 2 Glos/Wilts champions Royal Wootton Bassett from recording a four-wicket victory. They overhauled Painswick’s all-out 229 with 19 balls to spare.
Charles Snow was outstanding with the ball before guiding Tewkesbury home with the bat with the final pair at the crease in a nail-biter against Chipping Sodbury. Snow, the fifth bowler used by skipper Tom Allcoat, took 7-24 as visitors Chipping Sodbury, who won the toss, subsided from 84-3 to 109 all out in 34.4 overs despite skipper Tom Laver’s 54.
But Tewkesbury found runs just as hard to come by, and when Snow arrived at the wicket, they were 85-7 in the 35th over. But Snow dug deep, hitting the winning run from the final ball of the 49th over after facing 45 balls for an unbeaten 11.
Sohail Javed crashed an unbeaten 100 from 62 balls, hitting 10 fours and seven sixes, and helping Bristol Pakistanis to 308 against Brislington in Bristol & North Somerset. Soban Irfan made 69, and their total was 147 too many for Brislington, as Raja Arbaz Hussain took 5-26. Cameron George made 52 for Brislington.
Bristol West Indian Phoenix skipper Vishal Mamgai, opening the innings, made 74 of his side’s 185, and that was 30 runs too many for Frenchay. Alex Stell took 5-19, and Kavin Panagoda collected 3-43 for Frenchay, while Rushabh Yadav picked up 4-28 for Phoenix.
Unbeaten leaders Bishopston stretched their lead to 65 points after overcoming second-placed Keynsham by 87 runs. Skipper David O’Brien top-scored with 53 in their all-out 233 before Lawrence Cook picked up 3-26 as Keynsham were dismissed in 48 overs.
Skipper Gavin Williams took 5-22, and Charles Watkins grabbed 3-28 as Corse & Staunton were bowled out for 180 in the Gloucestershire Division. That left them 46 runs short of Charlton Kings, for whom Matt Luxton made 56. William Turner made 53 for Corse & Staunton before his side lost their last eight wickets for 28 runs. Earlier, Cerys King took 4-31 for Corse & Staunton.
Aaron Court thumped 85 from 70 balls at the top of the order for Langford, who made 238 against Cheltenham 2nds despite Hassam Dahar picking up 5-54. That proved to be a few too many for Cheltenham, who fell nine runs short, losing their final wicket with five balls remaining. Jack Brown took 4-29 for Langford.
Anthony James made 115 for Aston Ingham at almost a run-a-ball in their 218-8 against Chipping Campden. Dylan McAteer, who had earlier taken 4-55, top-scored for Chipping Campden with 51 while Sam Nicholls made 50, but they finished 11 runs adrift with the ninth-wicket pair at the crease.
Champions Bourton Vale remain unbeaten after enjoying a seven-wicket win over Hawkesbury. Left-arm spinner Max Shepherd took 5-22 and Max Little 3-36 as Hawkesbury were dismissed for 148 before Bourton knocked off the runs in 27.1 overs, with openers Oliver Whiteley and Mark Whitney making 55 and 50 respectively.
Gloucester rushed to an eight-wicket win over Stroud, who were shot out for 98 in 33.4 overs, with Maaz Mustak taking 4-12 and Lafras Van Vuuren 3-22.
