Dumbleton one win away from Village Cup final at Lord’s

DUMBLETON will be flying the flag for Gloucestershire club cricket on Sunday in the semi-finals of the Voneus Village Cup.

Victory away to Rainford, who play in the Liverpool & District League, would clinch a dream day out at Lord’s on September 18.

Six victories, including four on the road, have taken Dumbleton into the semi-finals for the first time since suffering a heartbreaking eight-run defeat in 2011 to Rottingdean.

Three members of that team – Adam Stuart, Rupert Salmon and Tom Green – have been named in a squad of 14 which will travel to Merseyside straight from Dairy Lane tonight after the home WEPL clash with Tewkesbury who have generously agreed to bring forward the start time of this Gloucestershire division match by 90 minutes to 11am.

The travelling party hope to give themselves the best possible chance on Sunday by overnighting in nearby St Helens, while they will also be cheered on by a coach load of travelling supporters.

Dumbleton’s squad features brothers Dan and Myles Holland whose father Nick was a member of the 2011 squad that came so close to playing at Lord’s.

The match is being broadcast live from 1pm by Live Sports FM at: http://livesportsfm.co.uk/player.aspx

Dumbleton squad: Aaron Tomson, Adam Stuart, Dan Holland, Finn Brabham, Jamie Diamond, Myles Holland, Nick Schubach, Ross Martin, Rupert Salmon (captain), Scott Tremain, Tom Green, Tommy Boorman, Will Sharp, Ollie Horne.
