Last week, Beaudesert Park School played host to our annual District under-10s festival.
Over five days, six teams competed in a round robin format that aims to provide young players with exposure to long-form cricket.
Five youth leagues provided players for the festival, with Leadon Vale, Stroud district, Cotswold district, Cheltenham and Gloucester entering one team while Bristol Youth Cricket League entered two sides.
The event was fantastically attended by both parents and players. Over the week, more than 70 children got to take part in the festival, and it was brilliant to see so many enjoying themselves.
Bringing together both boys and girls, the matches allowed players to hone their skills without the inclusion of county players.
A massive thank you to Beaudesert Park School for being welcoming hosts throughout the week. A special shout out to the umpires for their time, and of course, the players.
On the event, Operations Manager, Chris Munden said; “Although we are encouraging healthy competition throughout this week, the aim of this festival is for young cricketers to enjoy themselves and that will start a lifelong love of the game.
We hope that many of the children who took part in the festival will continue to take part in long-form cricket in the future.”
We are already looking forward to next year’s event and hope that the festival can continue to go from strength to strength in the future.
