Week Three Bristol & District League round-up

MARTIN Millard cracked a second successive century for Dyrham & Hinton who romped past Claverham 2nds by 193 runs in Division Seven of the Martin Berrill Sports Bristol & District League.

The experienced opener followed up his 122 the previous week against Bristol Eagles with a tremendous 160 from only 107 balls (22 fours, five sixes) as his side piled up 347-4 from their 40, Ben Short weighing in with 65.

And Andy Lewis then took 3-17 from six as Claverham faded to 154 all out in reply.

Umair Javed’s unbeaten 139 off 81 (12 fours, eight sixes) was the highlight of Churchways’ 114-run triumph away to St George Valley in Division Eight.

And in Division 12, opener Barry Gayle crashed 133 for Bristol West Indian Phoenix 3rds in a 182-run hammering of Frys, Pradhyuman Patel leading the attack with a return of 4-7 from four.

Captain Jack Kewley top scored with 121 from just 88 (22 fours) to pave the way for Almondsbury to dispatch Bitton by 103 runs in Division Two, Fraser Stewart following up with figures of 3-19.

Almondsbury 2nds could not complete a double success despite an explosive innings from Deepak Bhadri at home to their Hampset counterparts in Division Seven.

Bhadri smashed 111 from only 77 balls (13 fours, seven sixes) but his side still finished 25 runs shy.

Another skipper to impress was Mike Love whose 120 off 116 (17 fours) put Bristol 4ths on course for a 157-run thumping of Alveston 2nds in Division 14.

Batters did not have things all their own way, Ross Edwards claiming 6-36 from nine for Hanham who nipped in by one wicket at home to Clevedon 2nds in the Senior Division where Sohail Javed’s burst of 5-22 from seven saw promoted Bristol Pakistanis to a 44-run home victory over Coalpit Heath.

And Nick Adams bagged 5-22 from eight for Stapleton 3rds who edged their Clevedon counterparts by 24 runs in Division Ten.
