GET SET WEEKEND

Clubs throughout the county are preparing for the start of the new season by making detailed plans for GetSetWeekend.

It takes place on Saturday April 1 and Sunday April 2, and encourages cricket supporters, their friends and families, to give something back to their club by volunteering to help with small and large tasks around clubhouses and grounds ahead of the first pre-season friendlies!

QUIZ NIGHT 1

Tetbury are staging a general knowledge quiz night at Dolphins Hall on Friday March 31 (7.30pm), entry is £5 a person with a maximum of six people per team.

The evening is raising money for both the cricket club and the Dolphins Recreation Centre Redevelopment Project.

TOUR DATES

Badgers, a touring team from Surrey, are looking for fixtures in the Gloucester area on the following days: Friday June 30 (evening T20), Saturday July 1 and Sunday July 2 (both 40 overs). Contact is Mike Edwards, e: mde.glos@gmail.com

REUNION DATE

Westbury-on-Trym CC will be holding a former players reunion on May 21 (7pm) at the Cribbs Sports & Social Club on Station Road, Henbury. Contact is Bill Daly on 07511 994812.

PRACTICE SESSIONS

Cam Ladies will launch softball and hardball practice on Friday April 7.

Softball sessions, for ladies and girls from Year 7 and over, will take place from 6-7pm, followed by hardball practice from 7-8.30pm for ladies and girls from Year 9 and above.

WELCOME NIGHT

Brislington are hosting a Welcome Evening for prospective new members on Friday March 31.

Junior players are welcome to attend from 6-8pm and adults from 7pm.

The club, which also has a thriving women’s section with hardball and softball teams, is located on Ironmould Lane.

QUIZ NIGHT 2

Uley are holding a fundraising quiz in the village hall on April 22 (7-10pm).  It costs £60 to enter a team of six. A selection of curries will be served at the interval, and raffle prizes include a shirt signed by former England captain Joe Root.

FREE SESSION

Frenchay are offering a free taster session to girls (Years 3 and 4) who want to try softball cricket. The first session is at the club on April 14 (6.30-7.30pm) and continues every Friday throughout the season. For more details, email Sarah at: frenchayyouth@gmail.com
