Opening batter Luke Ashen crunched the ball to all parts as Tetbury rushed to a thumping 188-run win over Tewkesbury 2nds in Division One of the Gloucestershire Cricket League. He smashed 137 from just 59 balls, hitting 12 fours and 11 sixes along the way as Tetbury totalled 327-8 in their 45 overs.
When Ashen was the third man out, he had made all but 30 of Tetbury’s runs. Tewkesbury slumped to 31-5 in reply, but an unbeaten 52 by Joshua Mill helped them to reach 139.
An unbroken ninth-wicket partnership of 40 between skipper Santosh Gopinath and Shiva Kumar secured a narrow win for Ullenwood Bharat over Woodmancote in Division Two.
Chasing 167, Gopinath made his runs from 81 balls after Will McNamara had taken 5-33 for Woodmancote.
Sam Coote, opening the batting, made 110 for Hatherley and Reddings 2nds in their total of 223-8, which was 119 too many for Quedgeley & Hardwicke.
In Division Three, Frampton-on-Severn got home by one wicket against Chipping Sodbury 2nds, who made 218-4 in 40 overs.
Openers Tom Mangan and Nathan Hudd made 63 and 52 respectively for Frampton to set up the victory push, but there were only four balls remaining when they got over the line. Earlier, Jake Reed (80 not) and Daniel Peachey (76 not) had rebuilt the Chipping Sodbury innings after they had slipped to 57-4.
Ben Morton guided Corse & Staunton 2nds to a two-wicket win over Kingsholm 2nds, who made 241-8, in Division Four with an excellent unbeaten 128.
Morton faced 115 balls, hitting 16 fours and four sixes, as the home side reached their target with six balls to spare.
Hamad Zazai smashed 103 from 69 balls in Cranham’s 259-6, a score that was well beyond Frocester 3rds, who were shot out for 81 with E Buttress taking 6-22.
A good all-round team effort earned Whitminster a 158-run win over Cinderford St John after they had made 239.
Jonty Leverton top-scored for Whitminster with 63 while Jordan Warren returned figures of 6-40 for Cinderford St John.
Stroud 3rds edged home by one wicket and with five balls remaining after overhauling Bibury’s 160 all out in Division Five. Bibury’s Adeko Collymore (51) was the only player in the match to reach a half-century while team-mate Graham Clarke took 5-27. Earlier, Shinan Kunhi and Anthony Yiollaris had both claimed three wickets for Stroud.
It was almost as tight for Hatherley and Reddings 3rds who overcame Cricklade’s all out 111 for the loss of eight wickets, albeit they still had more than 12 overs remaining. Aaron Jayden and Alex Christie both took three wickets apiece for Hatherley.
Langford 2nds also won by two wickets after they had bowled out Lechlade for 177, thanks in large part to Tommy Hewlett, who finished with 5-19. Jayden Camarda made 82 for Lechlade.
It was much more comfortable for Down Hatherley, who beat Winchcombe by seven wickets.
Winchcombe were restricted to 196-9, but an unbeaten 99 from 103 balls by Chanaka Marasinghe ensured the visitors got home with 17 balls to spare.
In Division 6A, Lydney 2nds were shot out for 53 in 22.5 overs by Arcadians Nine Elms 2nds, with Uday Shah grabbing 5-13. Arcadians knocked off the runs in 11.2 overs for the loss of four wickets.
