It’s all change again in the Senior Division of the Bristol and District League with Stapleton back on top after their 45-run win over Bradley Stoke & Almondsbury.
Stapleton made 238-9 with Babar Pervaiz thumping six sixes in a 37-ball unbeaten 67 while the prolific Nic Tindall made 59. Hashir Farouk took 3-29 Liam Glen then took 4-35 as Bradley Stoke & Almondsbury were dismissed in 41.3 overs.
Previous leaders Winterbourne, who are now three points off the pace, were beaten by 32 runs by Pak Bristolians, themselves very much in the title hunt, after being bowled out for 132. Left-arm spinner Abdullah Tabraiz picked up 3-20 while opening bowler Ismail Zia took 3-26.
Earlier, Tabraiz’s brother, Ahmed, top-scored with 47 – he was one of four wickets for Aaron Blake at a cost of 28 – sharing in what proved to be a match-winning partnership of 77 with Israfiel Farooq (40) for the fourth wicket.
The victory leaves Pak Bristolians just five points behind the leaders with three games to play and skipper Ahmed Tabraiz said: “It was a top-of-the-table game, we fancy ourselves massively to win the league.”
Opener Sam Ferguson made 99 from 97 balls to set up Bristol 2nds’ three-wicket win over fourth-placed Golden Hill 2nds, who are 11 points behind the leaders. Golden Hill had made 238-9 with John Colley top-scoring with a rapid 67. Dan Jones took 3-31 for Bristol and Louis Watson Roper claimed 3-36.
Timsbury made it three wins on the bounce in the First Division, beating Bristol 3rds by seven wickets after bowling them out for 88. Freddie Hosford took 3-14, and Martin Richards claimed 3-25.
Ross Edwards took 5-28 for Hanham, but Lansdown still made 181, which proved to be eight runs too many.
Opener Sayab Zulfiqar made an unbeaten 100 from 82 balls as Second Division leaders Pakistani Express beat Bishopston by seven wickets. He was given good support by Qasir Abass (51) as Pakistani Express overhauled Bishopston’s 225-7 with nearly eight overs in hand. Alex Morgan top-scored for Bishopston with 85 while Junaid Khan (3-45) and Zulfiqar (3-54) were the main wicket-takers for Pakistani Express.
Second-placed Hambrook remain 12 points off the pace after beating Twyford House 2nds by seven wickets. Twyford House were restricted to 191-7 with Krunal Visavadia taking 4-23 before Adrian Kilsingbury (56) led the charge to victory, which was completed in the 36th over.
Krishin Kumar grabbed 5-22 to help bowl out Old Down for 112, a total which left them 38 short of Bohemians. Ben Riggs and James Thomas had earlier taken 3-15 and 3-30 respectively for Old Down.
Hampset needed just 61 balls to overhaul Old Bristolians Westbury 2nds’ all-out 80 and beat them by nine wickets in the Third Division with James Dorey taking 3-2 and Isaac Bogg up 3-11.
They are the closest challengers to leaders Frenchay 2nds – they trail them by 12 points – after the pacesetters’ 46-run win over Winterbourne 2nds. Winterbourne closed on 197-8 with Chathuranga Gedara the pick of the Frenchay bowling attack with 3-24.
Opener Will Webster crunched 104 from 60 balls as Fourth Division leaders Golden Hill 3rds scorched to an eight-wicket win over Barrow Gurney. Matt Belbin took 4-16 as Barrow Gurney were restricted to 175-9.
University of Bristol Staff got home by two wickets with five balls remaining against Bradley Stoke & Almondsbury 3rds in the Fifth Division. Bradley Stoke & Almondsbury were restricted to 140-8 with Yusuf Mahadik taking 3-20. Dnyanesh Karmarkar then took 5-29, but University of Bristol Staff just got over the line with skipper Tim Wong top-scoring with 55.
Leaders Bristol United Banks piled on the runs, making 324-7 as they beat Pak Bristolians 2nds by 86 runs. Sartaj Aziz (83), Farman Ahmed (71) and Bilal Raja (56 not out) were their main run-getters while Qaisar Shahbaz top-scored with 67 for Pak Bristolians.
Martin Millard made 123 for Dyrham & Hinton but still finished on the losing side against Golden Hill 4ths in the Sixth Division. Opening partner Julian Sadgrove made 59 in Dyrham & Hinton’s 240-3, a total Golden Hill went past with five wickets and nine balls in hand. Dave Ingram (91) and Joe Woodworth (51) were their main run-getters while earlier Ben Wright collected 3-55 for Golden Hill.
Shine Paul Karuvelil picked up 5-35 to help dismiss Knowle 3rds for 178, a total leaders Bristol New Eleven went past in the 27th over for the loss of five wickets. Vineeth Raghavan was their main contributor with 76.
Mani Ponting took 4-38 and then made 78 as Stapleton 2nds overhauled Lodway 2nds’ 243-9 for the loss of six wickets.
