U15 Girls Development squad battle hard in double header

GLOUCESTERSHIRE Girls Under-15 Development squad battled hard in two close friendly matches against Warwickshire at Chipping Sodbury.

The visitors reached 144-8 off 20 in the opening clash, Grace Dano, Rona Mackenzie and Krithika Karthik all taking two wickets before opener Amelia Funnell domninated Gloucestershire’s reply of 99 with 41.

The second clash went right down to the wire thanks to a memorable bowling display from Mille Downey (pictured).

The home side posted a total of 113-7, Darcie Ford (25) top scoring. And Warwickshire then edged a three-wicket win with just three balls to spare, defying the efforts of Millie who finished with fine figures of 5-11 from four, hitting the stumps five times.

Gloucestershire Girls U18s, meanwhile, cruised to a 176-run home victory against Cornwall at Cheltenham in the ECB County Championship.

Prarthana Reddy (64 not) and captain Isobel Patel (41) led their side to an imposing total of 255-7 in an innings slightly curtailed by rain.

Cornwall, in reply, were then rushed out for just 83 with Jen Rivers (4-21), Greer Barnes (3-31) and Jemima Smith (2-0 from nine balls) sharing the spoils.
