WEPL Women’s Week three round-up

 

Bath Wanderers flying high….

Week three saw Bath Wanderers look to maintain their unbeaten run as they welcomed Taunton Deane.

Bath won the toss and elected to bat first and set a healthy target for the visitors to face. With Charlotte Phillips (69) and Emily Smith (65*) Bath managed 247 for 3 from their 40 overs. Karla Rose from Taunton Deane being the pick of the bowlers (8 overs 18 runs 1 wicket).

Taunton Deane set about their chase with Karla Rose contributing well with the bat as she had done with the ball in the first innings (58). The bowling attack of Bath proving to strong Lily Day (8 overs 21 runs 3 wickets) and Charlotte Phillips proving she could do as much damage with ball as the bat with 2 wickets from her 5 overs bowled.

Taunton Deane all out for 186 in 39 overs and Baths winning streak continues.

 

Devizes get off the mark….

Both Devizes and Dumbleton headed into week 3 seeking their first win, Dumbleton made the trip to Devizes.

Devizes winning the toss, deciding to put the visitors in to bat first. Dumbleton struggled to build a target with Sophie Smith Graham top scoring (17). Devizes bowling attack was led by Jen Heppell (7.5 overs 8 runs 3 wickets) and Katy Cobb (8 overs 10 runs 2 wickets). Dumbleton all out for 74.

With a small target to chase, Devizes chased the target in 22.1 two wickets down, Emily Bogg (29*) pick with the bat, Sophie Smith Graham (5.1 overs 9 runs 2 wickets).

Devizes pick up their first win.

 

Frenchay pick up second win….

Frenchay welcomed top of the table Bridgwater in week 3 as they looked to return to winning ways.

Frenchay won the toss and elected to bat, a blistering start from Anmol Krishna (71) and runs also coming from Jemima Smith (55) allowed the home side to set a target of 208 (all-out 39.3). An impressive bowling display from Joleigh Roberts (7 overs 35 runs 5 wickets) restricting Frenchay.

Bridgwater set about their chase with Frenchay picking up two quick wickets from Sophie Pickering (5 overs 14 runs 3 wickets) and Jemima Smith. Joleigh Roberts came to the crease and led the charge (83*) a fantastic partnership between Joleigh and Tilly Bond, looked to be helping Bridgwater edge closer to their target, Darcie Ford taking the wicket of Bond with Isabel Richards and Emily Austen also providing 2 wickets each.

Despite the exciting chase, Frenchay left Joleigh without anyone to bat with and Bridgwater were bowled out for 159 (26.4) giving Frenchay their second win and Bridgwater their first loss.

 

Golden Hill seek first win on the road….

Golden Hill travelled to Royal Wootton Bassett in search of their first win on the road, winning the toss they elected to bat first.

A fantastic 78* for Pratharna Reddy and 35 from Krithika Karthik helped Golden Hill to a target of 217 in their 40 overs, 6 wickets down. With three run outs and the three wickets shared amongst Holly Evans, Poppy Oliver and Luiza Misquitta.

Elsie Haines (62) Holly Evans (41) and Cath Possamai (34) contributing well with the bat in RWBCC chase of the target Gracie Clarke taking the first crucial wicket, with Abigail Woodworth (7 overs 35 runs 3 wickets) taking the next three.

RWBCC looked to be chasing well, but ultimately fell short and were well restricted by Golden Hill, making 195 for 4 within their 40 overs.
