Women’s WEPL cricket action continued the weekend of the 11th of June

Wins for Bath, Bridgwater, Golden Hill and Taunton Deane after the second week of WEPL fixtures.

Taunton Deane currently sitting top of the table having played 3 fixtures With Bridgwater in 2nd with two from two.

Bath Wanderers vs Royal Wootton Basset

Royal Wootton Bassett made the trip to Bath winning the toss and electing to field. Bath quickly went about their business, Isla Thompson quickly set the tone scoring 131, Emily Smith and Lily Day also contributing with the bat and scoring 44 each. Bath finishing on 304 for 6 after 40 overs, with Xara Jetly taking 2 wickets for RWBCC.

RWBCC set about their chase but unable to gain momentum, fell short scoring 113 all out after 33.3 overs, with Lauren Shrubsole scoring 29. Lily Day being the pick of the bowlers going for just 17 runs in 7.3 overs and taking 5 wickets. Another successful outing for Bath Wanderers.

Bridgwater vs Devizes

Devizes travelled to the Parks to face Bridgwater, Bridgwater won the toss and chose to put Devizes in to bat first. Runs came from Flo Sharman (33) and Rowan Sabin (21) a total of 124 all out in 36.1 with wickets coming from Josie Cherson taking 3 wickets from her 4 overs and only going for 6 runs and Poppy Hawker taking 2 wickets for 5 runs in 2.1 overs.

Bridgwater made light work of their chase reaching 125 for 5 off 19 overs, with the runs coming from Joleigh Roberts. With 2 wickets a piece from Poppy Walker and Jen Heppell. Bridgwater’s winning run continues.

Golden Hill vs Dumbleton

Golden Hill and Dumbleton played in a rain impacted fixture, With Dumbleton making the long trip south of the County to Golden Hill.

Golden Hill won the toss and elected to field. Dumbleton managing 116 for 7 in 26 overs, Emily Hopkins (59) pick of the batters. Prarthana Reddy and Ella Stewart taking 2 wickets each and run outs coming from Krithika Karthik and Ella Stewart.

With runs from Prarthana Reddy (37*) and Bea Willis (66*) Golden Hill were able to chase down the target within 13.4 overs with Isabelle Churchman taking the sole wicket of the innings.

Taunton Deane vs Frenchay

Frenchay took to the M5 to face Taunton Deane, with Frenchay winning the toss and putting Taunton Deane into bat.

Taunton Deane set a substantial target of 284 for 6 in their 40 overs, Karla Rose scoring 126, Hannah Hughes (25) and Millie Lusk (27) also contributing with the bat. Wickets came from Isabel Richards and Rachel Le Poidevin with 2 each.

Openers Ellie Donaldson (31) and Anmol Krishna (21) made a good start, With Sally Phelps (42) and Sophie Pickering (29) also contributing to the runs, A fine bowling display from Millie Lusk taking 4 wickets and Megan Hughes taking 2, meant Frenchay fell short 229 all out in 34.3 overs.
