Cricketers and golfers come together to make Foundation’s golf day a success

On May 1st, 2025, we held our annual golf day at Chipping Sodbury Golf Club. It was an incredible day as we gathered to share a love of cricket, community, and to raise money for the Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation.

We were thrilled that 26 teams, and many familiar faces, joined us on the lush fairways and greens for an excellent day of golf. It was great to welcome cricketers, golfers (some non-golfers), sponsors, and partners alike.

Thank you to the groundskeepers, staff, and everyone at Chipping Sodbury Golf Club for their hospitality. Unseasonably sunny weather made for an idyllic day on the course.

CEO Steve Silk, organised the day and said;

“Thanks to Chipping Sodbury Golf Club and the weather gods, we had an incredible day, supported brilliantly by our sponsors, partners, and local cricket clubs.

Our golf day is such an important day for raising much-needed funds, with this year’s fundraising enabling us to reach more children in local primary schools, and through the support of all on the day, we will be able to deliver to an additional 12 to 14 schools in the next academic year.

Nearly all of the entrants to the day are those that return year on year, so my heartfelt thanks go out to all of them for supporting us once again”

While the action on the course was almost as hotly contested as the weather was warm, everyone came together to raise funds so we can continue putting more bats and balls in people’s hands. We cannot wait to bring cricket to more schools thanks to the generosity of the people involved.

We are already looking forward to next year’s event, but if you or your company is interested in becoming one of our valued partners, sponsors, or getting involved with any of our great initiatives, don’t hesitate to get in touch with Steve Silk.

Hear from a couple of people involved on why they continue to support this event and the Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation.
