First Class Comms Gloucestershire Cup set for semi-finals

THE prize of a chance to play at the Seat Unique Stadium will be at stake on Sunday when the semi-finals of the First Class Comms Gloucestershire Cup take place.

Downend host Hatherley & Reddings and Chipping Sodbury prepare to welcome Dumbleton as the competition reaches its exciting conclusion.

The final is due to take place on Saturday September 6.

The First Class Comms Gloucestershire Trophy final, meanwhile, will be between holders Gloucester AIW and Cirencester at Poulton on Sunday August 10.

DUMBLETON’S bid to reach a second successive Lord’s final is over after a low scoring four wicket defeat away to Stayley, of Cheshire, in the Voneus Village Cup.

The WEPL side were dismissed for 88 after losing the toss, skipper Ross Martin top scoring on 19 and Adam Stuart left unbeaten on 18 as the visitors folded from 67-4.

Stayley, in reply, lost wickets at regular intervals but edged to their modest target in less than 15 overs, Martin taking 3-41 and Ollie Horne 2-40.
