Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation and Medlock Charitable Trust Launch Partnership to Support Young People into Training and Employment

Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation (GCF) is proud to announce a new partnership with Medlock Charitable Trust (MCT) aimed at creating meaningful training and intern opportunities for young people across Gloucestershire who are currently not in education, employment, or training (NEET).

Thanks to this partnership the Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation is offering six‑month internships to support six young people aged 18 to 24.

The collaboration will deliver structured programmes combining accredited training, workshops, mentoring, and hands-on work placements within community sport and related sectors. The initiative is designed to equip participants with practical skills, workplace confidence, and clear progression pathways into sustainable employment or further education.

Through the partnership, eligible young people will gain:

  • Industry-recognised training and qualifications

  • Intern placements within sport and community settings

  • Personal development and mentoring support

  • Career guidance and progression planning

The programme will be delivered by experienced staff and partners within Gloucestershire’s cricketing and community networks, ensuring participants benefit from a supportive and inspiring environment.

Steve Silk, Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation Managing Director said:
“We are delighted to be working alongside the Medlock Charitable Trust to expand opportunities for young people who face barriers to employment. Cricket has the power to bring communities together, but it also provides a platform to develop confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills that are essential in the workplace. This partnership will make a tangible difference in young people’s lives.”

The programme will begin in Spring 2026, with referrals open through local schools, community organisations, and employment support services.

The closing date for applications is Friday, 27 March.  Interviews are likely to be w/c 13 April, at the Seat Unique Stadium, GCCC, Nevil Road, Bristol, BS7 9EJ.
