Trotman hits fourth successive unbeaten century!

BEN Trotman continued his remarkable run of form since qualifying for seniors cricket by completing a fourth successive unbeaten century for Gloucestershire Over 50s 2nds which means he is currently averaging 547!

His latest ton – 107 against Dorset – helped his side secure an eight wicket win and book a home tie in the last 16 against Suffolk at Shirehampton tomorrow (July 23).

Trotman’s tremendous series of innings began with 69 on debut against Devon while he’s backed it up with 114 verses Somerset, 102 against Devon and 155 verses Cornwall before again dominating against Dorset, facing 120 balls and striking 13 fours.

Mark Febery also weighed in with 50 after Dorset had earlier reached 251-7, Trotman and Sam Gunaratne both taking two wickets.

Rain forced the cancellation of the Over 60s’ clash with Somerset at Corse & Staunton, while the 2nds went down by six wickets in a weather-affected clash away to Cornwall.

Opener Tim Smith powered his way to 131 from 115 (17 fours, one six) while Simon Mezsaros plundered an unbeaten 59 in a useful total for the visitors of 287-4.

Showers brought an end to the game with Cornwall on 241-4 in the 39th when, crucially, they were ahead of the run rate so banked the points.

Gloucestershire 60s 3rds’ derby clash away to Somerset was abandoned because of the weather after only 32 overs.

Gloucestershire Over 70s, meanwhile, came up 23 runs short away to Wales.

The home side reached 174-3 from their 40 overs after winning the toss, John Turton taking 2-35 and Tony Garton 1-26, both from eight.

And it proved to be just out of reach despite opener Keith Daniels’ unbeaten 78 from 96 (11 fours).

GLOUCESTERSHIRE’S new seniors women’s team are in action again on July 29 at Tockington, taking on East Anglia (noon) after securing wins over Wiltshire and Somerset in their opening two friendly outings.
