Dumbleton ease into the last four of the Voneus Village Cup

DUMBLETON kept alive their hopes of a return to Lord’s with a comfortable 42-run home quarter-final win over Cuckney in the Voneus Village Cup.

Ross Martin’s team produced another composed knock out display, Myles Holland (main image) top scoring with 101 from 87 (11 fours, two sixes) in a total of 244-8 after losing the toss.

And Cuckney, from Nottinghamshire, then finished well short as Martin, Lewis Rollinson and Dan Hammond all took two wickets while there were also important spells from Holland (1-17 from six) and Ollie Horne (0-33 from eight) as the visitors struggled to break the shackles.

Dumbleton, the 2022 champions and last year’s beaten finalists, will now be away on August 3 to either Thornton, from Bradford, or Stayley, of Cheshire, who meet on Sunday.

PAK Bristolians will be home on Sunday to Downend in the quarter-finals of the First Class Comms Gloucestershire Cup.

The winners face a trip to Bedminster or Chipping Sodbury while in the other half of the draw, Hatherley & Reddings host Bristol West Indian Phoenix with the reward of a home semi final against Dumbleton or Bishopston.

The First Class Comms Gloucestershire Trophy, meanwhile, is down to the last four.

Apperley welcome Gloucester AIW on Sunday with Golden Hill set to entertain Cirencester.

CHELTENHAM are due to host Apperley on Sunday in the group semi-finals of the ECB Girls U15 Club T20 with the winners taking on Exeter or Hursley Park.

BRISTOL edged Cardiff by six runs to reach the regional semi-finals of the ECB U15 Club T20.

James Hutchings dominated Bristol’s total of 116-7 after losing the toss, top scoring on a crucial 48, while a fine team display with the ball then ensured Cardiff finished just short.

Bristol are now preparing to host Compton & Chandlers Ford on Tuesday (10.30am) for a place in the final.
