BRISTOL 3rds took advantage of a slip by leaders Shirehampton to claim pole position in Division Two of the Martin Berrill Sports Bristol & District League with a six wicket home win over Winterbourne 2nds.
Zack Clifton (4-28) and opener James O’Dair (85 not) both shone in the comfortable victory which was completed as Shire, leaders by a point at the start of the day, went down by 47 runs at home to Old Down, Greg Welsher taking centre stage with figures of 4-15 from five.
Hanham are only one point off the foot of the Senior Division following a six-wicket reverse at Winterbourne for whom George Ford hit 73 while Downend 2nds eased past lowly Portishead by 71 runs, Dave Goodway taking 4-41 from nine as his side went second.
Mike Perham hammered an unbeaten 100 off only 66 (13 fours, three sixes) for Coalpit Heath who trumped Stapleton by 152 runs.
And Alfie Clark was another centurion for the club, reaching 116 from 104 (16 fours, four sixes) for the 2nds in a 52-run home triumph over Frenchay 3rds in Division Seven North.
Carsons & Mangotsfield continued their push for promotion from Division Four with a seven wicket home triumph over Bristol Lions, George Sutton finishing with 4-28.
And Bristol Aces chased won a target of 204 at Blagdon to bank the points by seven wickets and with more than four overs to spare, opener Muhammad Saim unbeaten on 100 from 118 (four fours, seven sixes).
Opener Jacob Willie cracked an unbeaten 146 for Brislington 4ths who coasted past Whitchurch 3rds in Division Eight East, Jamie Merry claiming 4-25 from eight.
Captain Ollie Nash led from the front with an unbeaten 144 from 142 (14 fours, six sixes) for Thornbury 3rds in Division Six, but his side’s total of 242-4 proved to be well in range for Whitchurch 2nds who closed out a six wicket success, Jake Dyer top scoring on 95.
In Seven West, Zahid Safi struck with 6-9 from only 6.2 overs for Bedminster 4ths who eased in by six wickets at Wrington.
Dan Adamson finished with 6-19 from just 3.5 overs as Frenchay 4ths defeated Hanham 3rds by 135 runs in Division Nine North, Will Gaskell earlier thumping 98 from only 61 (13 fours, four sixes).
And Ben Riggs compiled his maiden ton, scoring 112 from 79 (18 fours) for Old Down 2nds who thumped Backwell Flax Bourton 3rds by 258 runs.
Division Three leaders Bedminster 3rds suffered a first defeat of the campaign, slipping up by 41 runs at home to Brislington 2nds for whom Callum Westbrook top scored on 70.
