Two New Walking Cricket Hubs Take Total To 6

In May, Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation proudly launched two new community hubs as part of our mission of putting bats and balls into more people’s hands and delivering a social impact through the power of cricket.

At Tetbury, our first session welcomed 18 participants, a fantastic turnout that demonstrated the appetite for inclusive, accessible cricket opportunities in the area. The session created a warm and sociable environment, giving people of all backgrounds the chance to get active, connect with others, and enjoy the game in a supportive setting. We are grateful to Cotswold District Council for their support in making the Tetbury hub possible.

Alongside this, the launch of our Winchcombe Women’s Walking Cricket Hub has been a significant step forward in addressing the need for gentle, welcoming activity for women. Thanks to the generous support of Winchcombe Rotary Club, we have been able to remove key barriers to participation and create a space where women feel comfortable, confident, and included.

The impact has already been clear. Through the introduction of the Women’s hub, we have increased female representation across all our existing walking cricket sessions by 100 percent. Participants have shared positive feedback, with one stating, “I have never taken part in any exercise classes before, but I love cricket,” while another added, “Walking Cricket is a great way to take part in a sport and build confidence, even if you have limited physical ability.”

These hubs are about more than cricket. They provide opportunities to stay active, build friendships, and improve overall well-being, ensuring lasting impact across our communities.
