GLOUCESTERSHIRE Girls U13s were in tremendous form in their latest double-header, completing two comfortable friendly wins away to Worcestershire at Feckenham.
In the first match, Bella Herring was unbeaten on 46 (seven fours) while Jennifer Rivers contributed a knock of 27 which helped set the mood as the visitors reached 118-4 after winning the toss.
It was then the turn of Krithika Karthik to take centre stage with a superb spell of 4-14 from three overs, which almost included a hat-trick, to restrict Worcester to a reply of 101-7.
The home side, who won the toss in the second clash, were pegged back to 96-8 as Abigail Bryan (3-6 from three), Bella (2-19) and Jennifer (1-6, both from four) found a good line and length along with Imogen Davies (1-9 from three).
There was also a wicket for Megan Ahearn in the hot conditions before Gloucestershire made light work of their target, opener Prarthana Reddy (35 not) and Emily Austen (10 not) sharing an unbroken partnership of 57.
Gloucestershire Girls U15s, meanwhile, lost to Wales but then overcame Somerset in back-to-back friendly matches in stifling conditions at Pontarddulais.
In the first match, Gloucestershire reached 108-4 from their 20, Greer Barnes (27) top scoring with captain Katie Jones (21) and opener Ellie Donaldson (20) also contributing.
Wales were then on the back foot at 28-3 but a strong partnership helped the home side to the win despite the efforts of Lucy Thompson (1-6) and Florence Hampton (1-8). Greer’s two overs cost only six runs while there was also a wicket for Aimee Aikenhead.
Gloucestershire showed good concentration to bounce back with a seven-wicket victory against Somerset who were bowled out for 103 with Emily Murray (2-0) and Greer (2-7) heading a fine team effort.
Katie Jones (32) then dominated Gloucestershire’s reply with the win completed with two overs to spare.
Gloucestershire Girls U15 Development Squad, meanwhile, went down to two friendly defeats against Frenchay Flames.
The highlights of the first match, a nine-wicket reverse, included battling innings from Daisy Romanek (20 not) and Olivia McMorris (20).
