Richie Cave took 5-31 as Frocester claimed their third win of the season in Premier One of the West of England Premier League.
Cave, who came on as first change, took his wickets in 7.3 overs as third-placed Midsomer Norton were bundled out for 130 in 25.3 overs. Zieg Roos had earlier top-scored with 62 in Frocester’s all-out 218, while Luke Woolway (GCF) made 45 and Ben Johnston 44. The win leaves Frocester two places and five points below Midsomer Norton.
Dumbleton climbed up to seventh after a thumping seven-wicket win over Bath. Ollie Horne took 4-43 as Bath were shot out for 155 in 37 overs before the in-form Tom Kelly eased his side to victory in 26.1 overs with an unbeaten 65 from 43 balls.
Opener Ash Lakhani made 107, but he couldn’t prevent Bristol from slipping to a nine-run defeat against Bedminster. Bristol were on 239 when Lakhani was the eighth man out from the second ball of the 49th over, but they added only one more run before they were dismissed in the final over. Earlier, James Matravers made 83 in Bedminster’s 249 while William Hughes took 4-52. Jamie Brooks was the pick of Bedminster’s bowlers with 4-39 while Matravers took 3-49.
Downend secured a 25-run win over Clevedon in Premier 2 Bristol/Somerset in a game that saw more than 700 runs scored. Skipper Callum Loud set the tone for Downend in their 367-5, making 90 from 74 balls at the top of the innings. Ben Ford (59 from 48 balls) and Mohamed Jezuli (52 not out from 26 balls) also got in on the act, but Clevedon put up a good fight before losing their final wicket with three deliveries remaining.
Zoravar Singh, batting at seven, smashed 113 from just 54 balls in Twyford House’s imposing 359 all out against Weston-super-Mare. He hit 11 fours and nine sixes and was the second centurion for his team after opener Parikshith Shetty, who made 127 from 75 balls. Shetty hit 10 fours and nine sixes before being sixth man out with the score on 211. Weston were then skittled for 147 in 32.3 overs with Alex Wilson picking up 4-46.
Archie Newton hit 11 fours and nine sixes in his unbeaten 141 from 96 balls as leaders Golden Hill defeated Taunton Deane by 103 runs. Fuzael Ahmed chipped in with 67 from 49 balls as Golden Hill reached 277-7. Daniel Broome (3-8) and Ahmed Syed (3-42) then starred with the ball as Taunton Deane were dismissed inside 34 overs.
Unbeaten Hatherley and Reddings are 19 points clear at the top of Premier 2 Glos/Wilts after their five-wicket win over Goatacre. Vihanga Kottawasinhage (3-26) and Joseph Tutty (3-34) helped bowl out Goatacre for 195 before the Driver-Dickerson brothers – Henry and George – scored half-centuries as their side eased to victory with more than 10 overs remaining. Henry made 55 from 39 balls while his older brother was still there at the end on 54.
Tewkesbury skipper Tom Allcoat smacked an unbeaten 84 from 51 balls in his side’s 296-8, which was 211 too many for Chipping Sodbury. Opener James Whitmore made 58, before Thiwanka Kekulawala took 4-9 and Fraser Loveday 3-21 as Chipping Sodbury were skittled in 26.3 overs.
Matthew Conolly made an unbeaten 104 and David Bennett a quicker than a run-a-ball 65 in Painswick’s 289-9, but they still went down by seven wickets to Royal Wootton Bassett, who got home with nine balls to spare.
Bristol West Indian Phoenix were too strong for Frenchay in Bristol & North Somerset, beating them by 167 runs after making 274-9. Muntasir Nayeem (72) and captain Ashur Morrison (67) were their leading run-getters, while Vipul Patel was the most successful of their bowlers with 3-28. Earlier, Shalinda Arachchige took 3-25 and Rishabh Singh 3-56 for Frenchay.
A fine all-round performance by Saurabh Rawat helped Bishopston maintain their grip at the top of the division as they defeated Keynsham by 71 runs. Rawat made 73 in his side’s 268-8 and then took 4-29 as Keynsham were dismissed in 47.2 overs. William Thirkell collected 4-39 while earlier Arnold Otwani made 69 at the top of the order for the leaders.
Opening bowler James Riley took 5-21 as Bristol Pakistanis were dismissed for 106 by Brislington, who required only 12.4 overs to reach their target thanks to Milo Ayres’ unbeaten 93 from 48 balls. He smashed 13 fours and five sixes.
Dylan Driscoll made 84 from 55 balls as Bourton Vale remain unbeaten in the Gloucestershire Division. Openers Oliver Whiteley (61) and Mark Whitney (53) also made important contributions in Bourton’s 287-5, which was 58 too many for Hawkesbury. Kudzai Maunze made 65 for Hawkesbury, whose innings ended with their eighth-wicket pair at the crease. Max Shepherd took 3-53 while earlier Mike Colborn picked up 3-42 for Hawkesbury.
Corse & Staunton are Bourton’s closest challengers after beating third-placed Charlton Kings by 168 runs. Jack Tyrer’s 113 from 112 balls helped them to 303-9 despite Gavin Williams taking 5-46. Tom Collinson carried his bat for 63, but Corse skipper Matt Brown took 6-18 in 8.3 overs as Charlton Kings were all out inside 36 overs.
Antony James (112 from 86 balls) and Oliver Henson (72) shared an unbroken third-wicket partnership of 148 as Aston Ingham made 248 against Chipping Campden, who were then dismissed for 179.
Gloucester eased to a seven-wicket win over Stroud after bowling them out for 214. Stroud recovered from 47-5, thanks in large part to Luke Benneyworth, who made 65. Sabir Khan took 4-43, and then Sachin Yadav made 67 as Gloucester rushed to victory with 23 overs remaining.
Ian Firth snapped up 5-30 as Cheltenham 2nds were skittled for 130 by Langford. That left them 70 runs short of Langford, for whom Aaron Court made a quickfire 69 and Tom Stevens an unbeaten 58. Hassam Dahar took 3-35 for Cheltenham.
