Frenchay 2nds are the new leaders in the Third Division of the Bristol and District League after beating Carsons & Mangotsfield by one wicket in a thriller.
Carsons & Mangotsfield had started the day on top of the table, but they are now 10 points off the pace following a game which saw 19 wickets fall for 240 runs. Frenchay won the toss and skittled Carsons & Mangotsfield for 118 in 34.4 overs with Calum Nicholson taking 5-20. Frenchay lost wickets steadily in reply – Jack Woodland took 3-28 – before number nine Tom Croucher hit the winning boundary with the scores level from the first ball of the 31st over.
Marcus Thatcher took 6-27 as Frampton Cotterell were skittled for 51 in 20.4 overs, a total that left them 107 adrift of Bradley Stoke & Almondsbury 2nds, who were dismissed in 35.4 overs. Danny Slade smashed an unbeaten 123 from 84 balls as Coalpit Heath made 304-4 in the Senior Division. He hit 13 fours and seven sixes and received good support from Josh Slade, who made 64.
Whitchurch were then dismissed for 69 inside 29 overs with Khalid Ali picking up 4-10 and Danny Slade 3-21.
Pak Bristolians also won in impressive fashion, beating Portishead by 233 runs after bowling them out for 88 in 32.3 overs with Umair Javed picking up 7-23. Earlier, Javed had made 72 with Abdur-Rehman Tabraiz contributing 69 and Shahzad Ahmad 55 as Pak Bristolians made their runs for the loss of six wickets.
Hanham lost their 10th wicket to the final ball of the game and were beaten by four runs by Keynsham in the First Division. Keynsham had made 200-5, while Ben Brown top-scored for Hanham with 54.
Martin Richards took 5-17 for Timsbury, and Sam Hoddinott claimed 3-16 as Lansdown 2nds were bowled out for 105 in 30.3 overs, but that was still 24 too many for Timsbury, who were dismissed inside 20 overs.
Second Division leaders Hambrook eased to a 38-run win over Bedminster 3rds after posting 275-6. Skipper Richard Dyer made an unbeaten 76 from 63 balls, and Irfan Omar hit a run-a-ball 61 before Bedminster were dismissed at the end of the 39th over. Owen Peacock (52) and Chris McCormack (50) were the leading run-getters for Bedminster, while Adrian Kislingbury (4-36) and Mitch Vardy (3-55) were the most successful of the Hambrook bowlers.
Pakistani Express, who are 13 points behind Hambrook, remain their closest challengers after their five-wicket win over Bristol West Indian Phoenix 2nds.
Phoenix were dismissed in the 40th over for 168 with Junaid Khan taking 4-25 and his fellow new ball bowler Ali Raza collecting 3-29. Pakistani Express got home with eight overs in hand.
Nick Price crunched an unbeaten 82 from 52 balls – eight fours and six sixes – as Fourth Division leaders Golden Hill 3rds went past Chilcompton Sports’ 196-7 for the loss of four wickets, although they had at one stage been 38-3. Earlier, Luke Colling took 4-31 for Golden Hill.
Brislington 2nds were bundled out for 101 by St Mary Redcliffe, with Rehan Randombage taking 4-11 and Shehan Appuhamilage collecting 4-19. It was a total St Mary Redcliffe overhauled with five wickets and more than 16 overs to spare. Udeepa Munasinghe was their top scorer with an undefeated 54 from 43 balls.
Number 11 Nixon Sam only faced one delivery, but that was all he needed to secure a thrilling one-wicket win for Bradley Stoke & Almondsbury 3rds over Keynsham 3rds in the Fifth Division. His boundary took his side past Keynsham’s 146 all out with nine balls to spare. Parth Pandya was at the other end, having made 32 from 82 balls.
Tanveer Ahmed hit an unbeaten 97 from 78 balls as Pak Bristolians 2nds beat Congresbury 2nds by six wickets with an over to spare. Congresbury had made 226-3 with Michael Fisher unbeaten on 108.
An unbroken ninth-wicket partnership of 32 guided Sixth Division leaders Bristol New Eleven to a two-wicket win over Bath 4ths. The game was in the balance when they lost their eighth wicket with the score on 184, but Shan Thomas (43 from 29 balls) was their late hero after opener Salu Thomas had made 59.
Dyrham & Hinton held firm to defeat Stapleton 2nds by five runs, taking the final wicket with the last ball of the 40th over. Stapleton were dismissed for 183 with Dave Taylor picking up 3-13. Earlier, Aayan Syed had taken half the Dyrham & Hinton wickets to fall, finishing with 4-28.
Khaleel Shaik took 4-1 in 2.2 overs, and Vipendeep Singh picked up 3-17 as Timsbury 2nds were dismissed for 87 inside 25 overs by Bristol Eagles, who knocked off the runs for the loss of three wickets.
And finally, Thornbury 3s ended a long wait for a win by defeating Bristol West Indians Phoenix 3s by 5 wickets. It ended a run of 28 matches without a victory.
