Tom Kelly Stars For Dumbleton In WEPL

Tom Kelly maintained his remarkable run of form as Dumbleton stormed to a five-wicket win over Thornbury in Premier One of the West of England Premier League.

The 25-year-old smashed 133 from just 81 balls as Dumbleton chased down Thornbury’s 266-7 with more than eight overs to spare. He hit 16 fours and seven sixes and took his run tally for the season to 469 from five innings at an average of 117.25. It was his second century of the campaign, and his lowest score so far is 59.

Earlier, Josh Thomas (60), Harry Thomas (54) and Chris Gibson (54) had been the main contributors for Thornbury.

Bedminster were too strong for Frocester, beating them by 156 runs after making 286. Gloucestershire batter Joe Phillips led the way with 94 while openers Edward Webb and Ollie Meadows made 54 and 51 respectively. Wimma Perera picked up 3-40 before Frocester were skittled inside 28 overs with Max Tryfonos taking 3-23.

Golden Hill continue to set a fast pace at the top of Premier 2 Bristol/Somerset as they overcame Twyford House by six wickets. Daaryoush Ahmed hit an unbeaten 81 from 69 balls as Golden Hill overhauled Twyford House’s 162 in 29.1 overs.

Purton beat Goatacre by one run to claim their first win of the campaign in Premier 2 Glos/Wilts. But Goatacre, who are still without a win, went so close to a dramatic victory with a 10th-wicket partnership of 34 before Ewen Kelly (30 from 14 balls) fell to Tom Bowler. Anthony D’Sa top-scored for Purton with 57 from 25 balls in their 172, and he was also the most successful of their bowlers with 4-46. Callum Wright took 3-35.

Leaders Hatherley and Reddings lost for the first time this season as they went down by 95 runs at Tewkesbury. The home side made 209-9 with opener Josh Richards the biggest contributor with 62 before Hatherley were bowled out in 37.4 overs with Thiwanka Kekulawala collecting 4-14. Earlier, Vihanga Kottawasinhage had taken 3-25 for Hatherley.

Opener George MacDuff made an unbeaten 89 as Painswick eased to a six-wicket win over Cheltenham. George Ford made 76 as Painswick went past Cheltenham’s 238-8 with 4.4 overs remaining. Stan Brown, batting at eight, made an unbeaten 58 for Cheltenham.

Jiwanjot Singh made 114 of Chipping Sodbury’s 243 against Marshfield, which was instrumental in their 50-run win. Singh also picked up 3-54 while number 10 Callum Duckett top-scored for Marshfield with an unbeaten 50.

Bishopston were too strong for Knowle in Bristol & North Somerset, beating them by 148 runs after making 275-6. Openers Tristan Jungbauer (107) and Arnold Otwani (63) led the way before Knowle were dismissed inside 36 overs with Saurabh Rawat taking 3-34.

Brislington overhauled Bristol West Indian Phoenix’s 216 all out with five wickets and more than 10 overs to spare. Opener Milo Ayres top-scored for Brislington with 57 while Vipul Patel picked up 3-38 for Phoenix. Earlier, Rushabh Yadav (53) and skipper Ashur Morrison (51) had been the main run-getters for Phoenix, while James Riley (4-45) and Cameron George (3-15) were the pick of the Brislington bowlers.

A fine all-round performance by Kavin Panagoda helped Frenchay seal a 46-run win over Bristol Pakistanis. Batting at 10, he made 53 from 30 balls to help his side reach 196 and then took 4-33 as Bristol Pakistanis were dismissed in the 33rd over. Madushan Ravichandrakumar picked up 3-15, while Tyrone Isitt earlier made 55 for Frenchay.  Soban Ifan (4-38) and Ghulam Shabbir (3-39) were the pick of Bristol Pakistanis’ bowlers.

Skipper Darrel Williams was run out from the final ball of the innings by Luke Benneyworth as Gloucestershire Division leaders Bourton Vale tied with Stroud in a dramatic game. Stroud had looked certain to claim their second win of the season when Williams (52) was joined by number 11 Max Little (26 not out) with Bourton still 56 runs short of their all-out 185. Lewis Culver (3-17) and Nimesh Ilukwatte (3-19) were the pick of the Stroud bowlers. Ilukwatte had a good game because he also made an unbeaten 47 while Oliver Whiteley took 3-28 for Bourton.

It was almost as dramatic at Charlton Kings, where the home side got home by one wicket after a last-wicket partnership of 20 between Craig Collinson and Karan Sharma saw them past Aston Ingham’s 160. Mohamed Dilshad took 4-32 for Aston Ingram, while earlier Anthony James made 52 for the visitors, while Sharma picked up 3-10.

Kudzai Maunze made an unbeaten 101 from 104 balls as Hawkesbury eased to a seven-wicket win over Langford. He was given good support by opener George Bailey, who made 55 after Langford had been bowled out for 198 with Ben Waldron taking 4-52. Skipper Jake Romanek top-scored for Langford with 67.
