Week 10 Gloucestershire Cricket League round-up

SRINIVAS Kamath and Andy Bates shared a stand of 216 as Cheltenham Civil Service 2nds ended their long wait for a first win of the summer with a 133-run home triumph over Parkend in Division Five of the Gloucestershire League.

Bates was run out for 98 but Kamath went on to complete his century before being held for 109 (12 fours, one six) in an imposing total of 299-3 after winning the toss.

Aatreya Sugur then claimed 3-17 as Civil Service moved off the foot of the table.

At the top, meanwhile, leaders King’s Stanley marched on with a ten-wicket demolition of Gloucester 2nds, Andy Malkin taking 4-42 before Ollie Cranny (62) and Jack Clement (50) took care of the chase towards a target of 111.

Corse & Staunton, bidding to bounce straight back to WEPL, were also ten-wicket winners in their Division One visit to Lydney.

The home side were rushed out for 70 by Te Shawn Zyun Alleyne (4-11) and Ed Goolden (3-36) with the pair following up with 34 and 37, respectively.

Cheltenham 2nds, who were joint second at the start of the day with Cheltenham Civil Service, zoomed 12 points clear with a 26-run home triumph against neighbours.

Captain James Schofield (71 not) and Mohammed Bokhari (70) dominated with the bat in Cheltenham’s challenge of 226-7 which proved to be out of range for the visitors.

So congested is the bottom half of the table that Tetbury went from ninth to sixth with a 209-run home hammering of Redmarley, Chris Job (95) and Alex Wyer (5-29) both shining.

Shaun Rooney cracked 100 off only 61 (13 fours, five sixes) for Chipping Sodbury 2nds who were 103-run victors at Newent in Division Three.

And in Division Five, Ian Robson’s unbeaten 110 off 113 (20 fours) steered Corse & Staunton 2nds to a nine wicket home triumph over Goodrich who were dismissed for 193.

One of the bowling spells of the day came in Division Nine D where Pete Masterman grabbed 6-22 from eight as Cirencester 4ths were shot out for 33 ahead of Charlton completing a seven-wicket success.

And in Seven A, Glyn Bayley’s burst of 6-28 from eight helped Huntley to a 112-run home defeat of Arcadians Nine Elms, Jon Green (80) and Charlie Gayther (75) earlier finding form with the bat.
