Baker Goes Ballistic For Cam In GCL

Lewis Baker, batting at nine, walloped an unbeaten 98 from 36 balls as Cam made 301-7 against Woodmancote in Division Two of the Gloucestershire League.

He hit five fours and 10 sixes after arriving at the wicket with the score on 175. Jake Dolbear made an undefeated 59 while opener Craig Mills made 52. Woodmancote were then dismissed for 157 despite Grant Spencer’s 60. George Dolling took 3-49 for Cam.

Ben Hopkins hit an unbeaten 108 as Quedgeley and Hardwicke eased to a nine-wicket win over Westbury-on-Severn. Westbury had made 215 with Dan Jarvis top-scoring with 60 while Oli Masters claimed 4-40 and Ethan Lovegrove 3-59.

An unbeaten 43 from 25 balls by Charlie Brook saw Cirencester home by four wickets and with three balls to spare against Tewkesbury 2nds in Division One.

Brook hit a  six and a four in the final over as Cirencester overhauled Tewkesbury’s 237-8. Opener Declan Rugg had set up the late surge with an innings of 94. Earlier, skipper Harry Lowe had made 95 for Tewkesbury.

Jody Lawrence snapped up 5-26 as Poulton rushed to a 127-run win over Rockhampton, who were bowled out for 153. Earlier, Jack Thorn had made 83 and William Mason 58 for Poulton, while Peter Smith claimed 3-55 for Rockhampton.

Jordan Stone took 5-28, and Callum Miller claimed 3-40 as Tetbury were bundled out for 136 in 25 overs by Lydney. Stone had earlier made an impression with the bat, top scoring with 64 in a total that was 78 too many for Tetbury. Mike Anderson took 3-33 for Tetbury.

Tetbury’s defeat allowed Apperley to move to the top of the table after their three-wicket win over Cheltenham Civil Service. 

An undefeated 87 by opener Flynn Waller steered Churchdown to a six-wicket win over Chipping Sodbury 2nds in Division Three. He shared in a fifth-wicket partnership of  110 with Alfie Rogers (38) as Churchdown went past Chipping Sodbury’s 191 with two overs to spare. Jack Gray top-scored for Chipping Sodbury with 56  while John Mumford picked up 3-25 for Churchdown.

The prolific Kyle Swanepoel scored 123 from 105 balls as Great Rissington beat Fairford by 109 runs. Great Rissington made 276-8 despite Matt Dyson collecting 5-55 before Fairford were dismissed in 38.1 overs. Swanepoel took 3-21 while Tom Webley claimed 3-24 and Jack Weston 3-34.

David Boon crunched an unbeaten 103 from 62 balls – 14 fours and four sixes – for leaders Charlton Kings 2nds who hold a one-point advantage over Great Rissington. Charlton Kings overhauled Rockhampton 2nds’ 193-5 inside 21 overs. Earlier, Harry Collins had made a run-a-ball unbeaten 62 for Rockhampton.

Dan Kibble was centre stage as Cinderford St John beat  Corse & Staunton 2nds by 11 runs in Division Four. Kibble made 82 from 84 balls in Cinderford St John’s 213-5 and then took 4-33. Mat Dudfield top-scored for Corse & Staunton with 65.

The game of the day in the division saw Dymock tie with Cranham, with Cranham making their 113 in 40 overs after Dymock were dismissed in the 26th over. 

Skipper Shane Trigg made 112 at quicker than a run-a-ball as Down Hatherley made 244-2 against Bibury in Division Five. He shared in an opening partnership of 135 with Martin Collier (51) to set up a 47-run win. Adeko Collymore made 60 for Bibury while Chris Stuart (4-27) and Jiju Jayakumar (3-14) were the pick of the Down Hatherley bowling attack.

Tyrone Fisher finished with figures of 5-28 as Stroud 2nds defeated Langford 2nds by four wickets in a game that went down to the final ball. Langford were bowled out for 161 – opener Laila Moledina top-scored with 53 – before Stroud squeezed home thanks to an unbeaten 61 by skipper Tom Richings, who took three runs from the final two deliveries after the first four had been dot balls.

Bilal Bilal made an unbeaten 114 from 86 balls, but he couldn’t prevent Lechlade from slipping to a four-wicket defeat by Winchcombe. Lechlade made 251-6, a total Winchcombe went past with seven balls to spare. Eddie Huggett made 89 from 92 balls, and Ben Meikle made 52 from 53 balls. Tristan Hawkes took 4-22 for Lechlade.
